6/9 Season Two, Episode 4: The Legend of Das Geisterschloss-Scarecrow and Mrs King

Lee and Amanda are left in the Mirabel Gardens by Dr Evil.. Lee grabs the sketchbook and begins to compare Emily’s sketch of the statue ( The rape of the sabine women? ) with the real deal..
he senses something is off but he can’t put his finger on it. It looks very windy.. No wonder there’s so much lip licking going on.. drat.. I can’t put it down to impure thoughts

Lee: I don’t know Amanda. What’s she trying to tell us.

Amanda is suddenly transfixed by the statue also. She says to herself: Hmm that’s funny.

Lee: What’s funny?
Amanda: I don’t know.
Lee: You’re making my day.

Amanda:  Look there’s something wrong with this picture. This one statue, there’s something wrong with the legs.

Lee: What?
Amanda: Ahhhhhhh! I got it!
Lee: got what?!
Amanda: Well you know how Mrs Farnsworth taught you that after you’ve looked you have to look and look and look again?
Lee: yes yes, Amanda? Look if you’re going someplace with this, will you please just get to the point. [ I can’t believe it.. but I’m agreeing with Lee here – come on Amanda just spill!]
Amanda: Every month Phillip and Jamie get a boy’s magazine ( Hey! Mad isn’t for girls too??!!)and in each issue there is a picture that has things hidden within the picture.
Lee: so?
Amanda: so, I think that’s what Mrs Farnsworth’s doing. I think she’s  hidden something in every sketch and in this one I think it’s errr…….. Jackhammer.
Lee: Jackhammer.

Amanda:  maybe it’s not a jackhammer it could be a lawn mower.. it’s not a lawn mower.. it’s definitely something!
[Lee bites his tongue.. good man! and notices the Austrian dude from yesterday is still hovering.. ] So Lee encourages them to move on.
Amanda: no no! nooo I’ve got it! I’ve got it! It’s a letter. It’s the letter T!

Lee: Great it’s the letter T! ah is there anymore sketches? and he hurrys Amanda on..

They walk off visiting the locations of the other sketches to find the other missing letters.. Amanda finds the letter O at the pretzel stand
and Lee tells Amanda they are being followed.. Lee says he noticed him yesterday at the puppet show.. well that’s cool continuity! good one! and Lee decides to find out for sure what this guy is up to…

He makes the most of every opportunity to pull Amanda close! Just look how he turns her around here!!! smooth Lee! you pick that up in high school?

They head down an alley way and lead the guy following them into a trap..

This is where I thought it looked like Lee had a bruise on his forehead. but well.. it could be anything I guess!  It turns out the guy who has been following them is Austrian intelligence (Uh oh.. Lee calls him Pal!!) His name is Colonel Gerard Metzger..

Oh I just love the location of this ‘cafe’ in the next scene.. gorgeous! so funny to think it doesn’t really exist. Anyway, I always feel a little uneasy at Amanda sitting on the edge of the wall like that with a huge drop behind her! eek!!!  but.. I am sure Lee’s big strong arms would have ( swoon) caught her if she had fallen!
Look how close they are to each other.. snuggled together checking out the sketchbook! yes- snuggled!  Does anyone know the name of this lookout where they are in Salzburg? come on Salzburg locals! Fill us in!!  

I Love how the camera follows Metzger walking up to them so you could get a look at the whole view on offer! We get to see a 270 degree view!!! brilliant! [I think Lee and Amanda came here for their second honeymoon! ]

Metzger explains he could tell they were interested in Emily, so he had to follow them and find out if they were goodies or not
Lee: She asked you to meet her here two days ago?
Col Metzger: Yes [Well that is interesting! since yesterday Lee told Amanda that Emily had been missing two days.. which means today she has been missing three days! but.. she contacted Metzger two days ago?! tee heee.. we could see that as a sign he is lying.. but.. nah! It’s just bad continuity! ]
Metzger continues: and like you, I was told that she’d left for Vienna. What I really don’t understand Frau King, is why she wanted you here? [ how gorgeous is the view behind Metzger??!! Ohhh smk does a lovely job showcasing the European locations! they did such a great job! well done smk!! ]
Amanda: I don’t know. I think maybe it’s because she hoped that I would remember her sketching

[oh my Gosh!! And how gorgeous is that view behind Amanda??!!! oh yeah.. and that view of Salzburg is pretty gorgeous too! You didn’t think I was referring to Salzburg did you?!   I can’t go past Mr Relaxed and Casual Lee!  hooo haaaa!!!! swoooooon!  Sorry! I’m getting distracted! I’ll try really hard to focus on what Amanda’s saying.. and ignore the.. View! ]
Amanda continues: .. and then we would find the clues that she left in them.
Col Metzger: Clues?
Amanda: Ah yes! You see, in each sketch we found a letter. See the sketch of the gardens? That’s a T.

[I can’t see a T! but.. whatever! It’s probably just me! ] O at the pretzel stand.
Col Metzger: yah
Amanda: the fountain with the horses: you see that little tiny S? [well I can see an s in the other horse’s mane too.. and I see a monkey.. and err I see a face on the side of that building..tee hee.. it’s a good thing Emily didn’t call for me! Anyone see Santa? 😉 ]

Lee: wai- wait! You didn’t tell me you’d found another letter. [Haa! Lee is a bit put out that she didn’t tell him! ]
Amanda: Well, ha.. I tried to tell you, but you didn’t hear me. ( haaa.. take that Mr Patience and control.. and she does it so nicely! ) See, she’s spelling something out. It doesn’t mean anything now but when we get all the letters, I think it might tell us something.
Lee: yeah that’s an S it’s right there in the horse’s mane [ tee hee oh come on Lee keep up ]
Col Metzger: how many of these sketches are there?
Amanda: there’s this next one of the cafe, then there’s this house.

Col Metzger: that’s Mozart’s house.
Amanda: Mmm hmm..and I think that’s an H.

Then there’s this um Castle in the lake. Do you know where that is?

Col Metzger: yes, it’s outside of town. A very isolated spot.
Amanda: I can’t find anything in this one. It’s all just straight up and down lines.
Col Metzger: If Frau Farnsworth drew it, it must have some significance.
Lee: I think we ought to have a look at it.

Col Metzger: I’ll meet you there. I will ask some questions of the local police they might have some information on the owner or something of value. Shall we say half an hour?
Lee: half an hour, you got it.

Off they go.. love how all the tables are resting on grass – so it’s obvious that restaurant isn’t usually there! LOL! but.. I still wish there was one there! Just gorgeous!

Ahhh things get a bit murky from now with the plot – all the castles, sketches and baddies etc. We might need to help each other make sense of all this stuff that’s coming.. So we will finish up here for the moment. Lee and Amanda making their way to the Castle on the Lake to meet Col. Metzger and check it out..
