7/12 Season Three, Episode 04: Tail of the Dancing Weasel- Scarecrow and Mrs King (Morley’s order: Episode 03)

Lee pulls up outside Harry’s.. Well, I for one am glad the ‘personal’ thing was not Leslie!!! I know some of you see her as gone at this point – but I’m in the ‘I have no idea what she is’ camp, I think Amanda has no idea at this point if Leslie is still around..
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001406373Hey.. that tree is much smaller than the one Crawford parked next to.. and where is Crawford’s motor bike?! Whatev..

Lee gets out and heads inside.. Amanda pulls up 3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001428395too.. and looks up to see the flowers on Harry’s ledge
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001140707(LOL!! A completely different looking ledge and windows to where Harry was earlier..haaaa..but again- whatev!)
Amanda looks back at Lee’s corvette parked out front.. Uh oh.. there’s danger and Lee doesn’t know it! (Uh oh!! Lee!! why don’t you know Harry’s signal?!! where would be the fun in that right??!!)

Well, Lee is a top agent.. we need not worry.. he won’t just wander on up there happy as can be, stroll into Harry’s ransacked office and not notice any signs of danger right?? right??? teeee heeee..
Crawford is in Harry’s office (I could say Larry was in Harry’s but.. this would sound like Dr Seuss?!!) He’s redecorating ransacking it..whooo he’s happy as Larry! get it??!!!!  Winking smile
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001417584
Lee opens Harry’s door and saunters (yes he really does saunter) in.. knocking and calling ‘Hey Harry!
(guess this means Lee let himself in huh! lol!)
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001441608Ummm Hey Lee didn’t ya notice all the papers everywhere?? [I think the editing here is rubbish!] At this point he’d usually have his gun out and have cocked and loaded it at least three times to look all heroic and manly! Winking smile
But…Umm nope..nothing!! No gun!!
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001446413
Crawford hides behind a chair in the office, gun drawn.. he is getting into position to aim at Lee and shoot.
But.. we cut back to Amanda who -oh yeah!
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001446546remembers the baseball, so gets it out of the box on her back seat and throws it.
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001448014[Looks like the baseball has a few signatures on it would you agree?  Is this the same ball we saw in DOA with the Ty Cobbs signature? he does tell us eventually in this ep doesn’t he.. I’ll keep an ear out for it! Oh and. what’s with the Zebra?!! does Lee have a thing for Zebra’s??!!!! Any Zebra’s in the wizard of Oz? Winking smile  lol.. maybe that should have been Amanda’s codename Winking smile ]
Lol Crawford would have shot Lee by now!

Amanda throws the baseball, allllllll the way up 3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001451217to Harry’s window.. wow!!!!! (yes she’s blurry- her throw is so darn powerful! Winking smile )
It must have been propelled by the power of her love for Lee- lol! Winking smile
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001452018
The baseball crashes through the window right behind Crawford juuuust before he was about to shoot Lee- as a reflex, Crawford turns to shoot the window and gives away his existence to Lee.
(Okay, why is the pot of flowers now on a side table?? and why is there a garden out Harry’s office window?!!! I thought that was the ledge!)

Lee turns.. (whooo notice the eagle behind him? is that like the one that was above Amanda’s front door that one time by mistake? anyone?)
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001453219
Lee kicks a chair.. knocks over this and that.. and a fight is on between two stunt guys!! Oh yeah!!!!
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001460427
Oh that is soooo not Lee doing that kick!!! or that roll over the desk!!    3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001465231
Love the drawer straight over stunt Lee’s head.. haaaa.. ouch!! you wouldn’t get up straight away after that one!!  Whooo Lee gets up a bit startled.. and checks his hair…
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001470437
err head!
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001471237
Yep, sorry big fella, the baddie has gone and messed your hair!

Right!!! that’s it!!! the gloves are off!!!!!
Lee (finally ) gets his gun out.. Now he’s really mad!!!!
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001481247Crawford runs out the front door, gets on to his bike and takes off (no helmet!) .
Amanda takes off too.. Is she following Crawford?
Out Lee comes.. too late..
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001488655(Ohhh I am so annoyed this shot is so blurry!!!)
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001489656

You mess with Lee’s hair.. you pay!!
Or- Time for a Meme:don't mess with the dolol.. here’s Lee in all his swooniness without my meme asking you to comprehend the english language at the same time…. aghaoghaohbabhag!
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001491257(feel free to copy the pic and have a go with your own meme!)
Looks like the do’s all fixed now though..Lol Lee must have stopped in Harry’s bathroom to fix his hair before running out onto the street for his trademark – ‘I’m gonna eat the bad guy for breakfast look’ – you know.. the clench the jaw and look determined moment!! Here: (brace yourselves.. hold on to something!!!!)
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001493660Oh Lee.. you do it soo soo well swoon!!

Man am I in a mood writing this eh! I’m down the rabbit hole! what’s a wizard of oz equivalent? Umm.. I’m up in the tornado!! I’m being carried by a flying monkey!!! Anyone?
haaa! It’s because life is stressful and busy.. and smk is the perfect panacea!!

Back to the Q bureau.. Duffy is doing some fancy graphics on his computer about the Q bureau search grid. Ancient computer!!!
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001498465
Francine in her cow outfit or Cruella DeVille outfit (thanks for that one BJo that’s too funny!) is sorting files with Amanda… umm seems Amanda didn’t follow Crawford..
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001504471
I guess she shot off like that to get back to the agency before Lee saw her??  Wait.. Duffy isn’t helping Francine – he’s play pac man or something (80s equivalent to a Facebook timewaster?)
Amanda wants to tidy up.. but Francine in her lovely, condescending, nasty way tells Amanda ‘it’s a search – not home ec’.3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001522088
(She does have a point- if after all they do need to map exactly where everything is and in what order-  but does she have to be so nasty?? Francine,  I know you are having a bad day and all, but really, it’s not Amanda’s fault that you chose to leave the house in that outfit!!!)
Though at the same time.. none of this makes sense to me, because Lee has already, a number of times, asked Amanda to start sorting things and alphabetising things. How can she do that without moving things!
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001522489Amanda says sorry.. that wouldn’t have been easy against such nastiness.. but our Amanda is all 3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001524891class
(and she probably thinks- I can give that.. at least I’m not wearing that outfit 😉 )
Francine smiles and moves on – wisely handled Amanda!
Francine: we need to establish a time sequence here. We need to figure out what was the very last thing that Crawford left.
Ohhhhhh can I skip this next part?? I truly loathe it!!!!
Cringe worthy! right up there with A Class Act and that ERA button for me!!!
Lets have a little moment where the agency and their ways is trumped by Amanda and her at first random, crazy sounding ideas- which eventually make sense and bear fruit.. ugh.. noooo I am not transcribing this! someone can if they wish to!
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001538905Amanda asks Francine if she has ever lost an earring.. and predictably Francine looks at Amanda like she’s nuts, 3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001560527only this time.. I tend to agree with her!
Amanda’s earring leads her to Crawford’s desk – hello.. wouldn’t the top drawer of a desk be an obvious place to assume things were new there? I thinks so!
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001558525
Amanda thinks the last thing Crawford was looking at was a file on a chemical company.. but Francine is uninterested and doesn’t think it means anything.. ugh..
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001574140
Okay everyone.. take note.. Atkins chemical.. ugh.. Amanda goes to the vault to get more info on it.. and the phone rings..
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001588955
Wait a minute.. see that folder under the tape recorder? it’s the Atkins chemical folder! Amanda just took that into the vault! Whatev!
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001592559Francine answers a call for someone called ‘Kolinsky‘ … ??
Francine: ah..who shall I say is calling?
The caller hangs up on her without responding. Whoa.. looks like Francine is wearing a wool dress – and that’s a silk scarf- match matchy!
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001601768Lee returns looking as good as ever, he immediately looks around for Amanda.. and guesses she’s in the vault.   Lee makes his way to the desk, and right on cue notices the unmarked phone line.. his eyes return to the vault.. and Amanda..
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001612178
Francine: I don’t know. Crawford has some kind of surveillance hook up here. A call just came in for a Kolinsky.
Lee: what?
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001615782Francine: Kolinsky.
Lee: I’ve never heard of a Kulinsky.

3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001617384(lol I swear this is what I hear Lee saying!)
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001617784Lee looks over at the vault where Amanda is… He has Amanda on his mind.. and can’t focus on any Kulinskys or Kolinskys right nowskys!
Lee sends Francine and Frank (Francine and Frank?? LOL.. Larry and Harry.. I’m sensing a pattern here.. ) on their way- he tells them to knock off for the rest of the day. Oh my.. does this mean Lee is Francine’s superior now?? How does he get to tell her to go home?!
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001629796 Francine yells bye to Amanda who’s in the vault…(my my… that’s quite friendly of Francine!!)

Amanda yells back a goodbye to Francine.
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001630597Lee gives Amanda’s voice a look like she is in trouble with him.. uh oh!  (too funny!!!)
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001632599
Lee gets up out of his chair.. time to confront Amanda with what he knows!
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001634601
He tells her it’s getting late and that he’ll walk her to her car.. he wears a grin permanently here.. lol do you think he’s learned that from Amanda? Winking smile
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001643810
He hands Amanda her handbag..
3.04 TAIL OF THE DANCING WEASEL.avi_001647814
Oh boy..I guess at this point we are wondering – what’s up with Lee? does he know about the baseball? Is that why he’s cranky with Amanda? Don’t tell me he’s going to blow up at Amanda now and be a jerk like he was at the end of Over the Limit??!!!  Oh noooo!!! but they are getting along so well now!!! Is their friendship at risk here?
At this point.. we aren’t sure what’s going to happen..

But.. I’ll need to finish here for the moment everyone – can’t wait to hear your thinking! Anyone like Amanda’s ramble about losing her earring? if so, sorry I have no patience with it! and feel free to transcribe it if you like! Byeee for now..

  1. I think Francine makes a great advertisement for Chic-fi-la….the cow on the advertisement sign that that says “Eat mor chikin”….for those of you out of the US….Chic-fi-la, pronounced (chick fillet)….(is a restaurant for great boneless fried chicken breast sandwiches)….that is THE ugliest outfit she has ever worn….OMG, fire the wardrobe department! MOO COW

  2. Okay, the scenes in this next post are meh with a couple of gems mixed in. I’m going to completely ignore the ball throw and all the ways in which it is shown wrong. Ugh. I don’t doubt Amanda’s ability, she looks like she’s actually practiced with Phillip and Jamie, it’s the filming.

But oh dear, those Lee-caps with the masseter flexing, oh boy…excuse while I reach for my fan…I feel the vapours coming on…who’s with me?

Poor Duffy…we only get to see his back… I think that’s because TPB know that they can’t show his face anymore he plays so many roles in this series!!! No wonder we call him Jack. But apparently he knows more than jack, because he can do anything!

And aside from Francine’s homage to CDV with her Dalmatian outfit, I really like Francine in this scene. It bugs me that they gave Amanda such dumb dialogue about the earring. I think her methods are logical and I’ve used the “walk-through” method myself many times and it works. But they way they have her talk about it? Makes her sound idiotic.

But I guess it’s worth it, because I love these two Francine lines:

“This is a search, Amanda, not home-ec.”

“Amanda, excuse me, but your lightening intuitive leaps fail to make any sense.”

LOL!!! I don’t think Duffy is impressed either. I use the phrase lightening intuitive leaps in my life on a regular basis – with my kids, my husband, friends, family, anywhere I can. And I think of Francine every time I do. Perhaps I should invest in a Dalmatian scarf so I can wear it while I say it.

I know Amanda has come a long way professionally, and I think that’s why this dumb dialogue bothers me, but I do think it is done to show the point that Amanda is still not an agent. She is still part time too. Francine does show Amanda some grudging respect in this scene which I also like, but she is still the top dog-ette. Hahaha – pun intended 🙂 Leave it to Amanda to find the needle in the haystack, but the methodological approach of the search grid is important and one the Agency must believe is effective and useful. Fortunately they give the job to Francine so Amanda can be out following luscious Lee.

Now about the purse…. Lee seems quite mad at Amanda when he arrives back at the Q. From the moment he walks in the door all he has on his mind is getting some answers from Amanda. He is not happy with her. He knows at this point something is up. I think it’s safe to assume he knows she followed him because he had to have gone back into Harry’s and found the baseball. He also must have gone back to make sure Harry wasn’t lying dead on the bathroom floor or something. So right now, Lee is not happy with Amanda at all. He is shooting her daggers with his eyes. It’s a good thing she is in the vault when he arrives. When Lee picks up Amanda’s purse he gives her a look that says, I know you followed me and I want some answers. Here is your purse – I’m holding it with just one finger because I’m so mad at you right now that I really don’t want to touch you or your purse, and this is me being hostile toward you. I wonder if he didn’t want to “accidentally” drop the purse off his finger right before Amanda took it so she’d have to bend over to pick it up and work for it. Sort of like, I’m being nice like I usually am, but not really because I’m mad at you. Petty, yes, but I guess that’s why he doesn’t do it. So that’s growth on Lee’s part, yes?

I’ll say no more until I get over to post 8.

    1. Its funny, I don’t get the sense that Lee is so very mad. I do think there is a part of him that is angry and if he could let it go, he would get pretty “steamed” (like he says.) That used to be the way he dealt with things and we would all say he is using his anger as a foil for any other emotions that may be churning inside of him. But I think there is an equal part of him that is very intrigued, and that intrigue is doing all kinds of interesting stuff to him. Part of that intrigue is that there is obviously a new angle to this case and he is going to have to try to get some info out of this woman who is his partner and friend. It also adds a new twist to their growing friendship. They have just embarked on a “get to know you outside of work” path and have probably shared some more personal things, anecdotal mostly, but they have delved into personal territory, and here it is obvious that Amanda is doing something clandestine and it involves him. He is piqued here, angry and all other forms of interested. At least that is how I view it.

      1. Do you define anger and mad differently? I use them interchangeably. It sounds like you are saying he is angry but not mad. I said he was mad at her. I was thinking we were in agreement, but it sounds like you are thinking I’m thinking Lee is more revved up than you think?

        Like

        1. I think we are using them interchangeably. As I read your comment, it sounded to me as though you thought Lee was really mad/angry and that it was that emotion that was his main motivator. I guess I don’t feel as though the anger is what is really getting him going. I see lots of curiosity and focus on Amanda here in these pictures, and that focus isn’t all “just let me at her, I am going to kill her for following me.” There seems to be an interested, intrigued, kind of attracted focus in his looks towards the vault. Do you see that too?

          Liked by 1 person

          1. Hmmm. First, I agree that his anger is not his main motivator. But I do think he is angry with her – that is the primary emotion he is feeling. But most of all, I think he wants to know what is going on with her. Why is she acting so strangely? Why is she deliberately doing something he has told her repeatedly not to do? He wants an answer. He’s just finally arrived at a place with her that has taken him over two years to get to, and while he trusts her completely he is being thrown for a loop here. He’s got to be wondering who is pulling the strings here. I would think that Lee would think that this behavior of Amanda’s is not something she would just start doing on her own. Something is going on.

Second, I do see the “interested and intrigued” that you see. I’m not sure that I see the “attracted” part. I’m assuming you mean attracted as in attraction as in romantic feelings. Yeah, I’m pretty sure I don’t understand what you’re talking about or I just don’t see it.

            Like

            1. I think we are on the same page, BJo. As for the “attraction” part. I don’t know, there is just a quality in his look in those last two pictures while he is still seated at his desk that make me think of attraction, something about the way his attention is so taken by Amanda in this scene. We have seen him mad at her before, but never this level of attention towards her even while she is not in his line of sight. Maybe I am looking at a rock again, but I sure do find it interesting 😉

              1. I’m enjoying eavesdropping on your discussion BJo and Morley 😉

I am thinking that Lee is a little mad at how he can’t be mad at Amanda here in the Q bureau!

And I agree.. his fixation on Amanda to me screams attraction and intense curiosity 🙂

I was thinking about this as I went for a walk this morning ( sorry everyone you couldn’t ‘walk with me’ on that one haa) – I hadn’t noticed this at first, but I think it’s very important that Lee returns to the Q bureau and pretends all is well to everyone – he waits until he is alone with Amanda to confront her about it.
I think earlier Lee would have confronted her infront of everyone.. but here – in a way, he is protecting her from the judgement of others – just like Amanda protected Lee in Burn Out by doing his report.. well.. at least I think so.. and a moment in the next post to be published again underlines this – so I’ll return to this idea then. Lee suspects Amanda is hiding something, but at the same time as he confronts her about it, he is protecting her from others at the agency 🙂 me like!
Okay gotta get some work done! I’ll check in later today – byeee everyone hope you are well!

                1. Hmmm, interesting, iwsod. I never really thought that he might be protecting her from other people’s judgement. I think I just figured he thought it was between him and Amanda and no one, especially gossipy Francine, needed to know about it. Lee is closer with Amanda than anyone else at the Agency by now I would think, and I don’t see him letting on about that to anyone.

                2. You know, this has got me thinking. Between you seeing attraction being ‘screamed’ by Lee and Morley seeing it in his eyes, I’m wondering just when I see attraction in Lee for Amanda for real. I guess I would say I haven’t seen it yet. I’ll have to give it some thought because Lee’s heart is definitely skating on thin ice. What episode is next up on the blog, iwsod?

                  Like

                  1. Now, that might be the difference. I think Lee has been attracted to Amanda since Gift Horse. Yes, that is when I think he noticed her first. But I do think he had all sorts of filters up and could explain it away in many different eloquent and not so eloquent ways. But it didn’t go away, instead it grew. And it grew even when surface attraction wasn’t going to make it grow. I just finished watching ALSALS again and it is there, to me, at least. That attraction even though Lee doesn’t get why it is there. But now here in TODW, he may just start getting a handle on it. And it is deep and I do think it freaks him out, but I also think that he is beginning to be comfortable with not fighting it. The revelation that Amanda is an integral part of his life, work and as a personal friend is an important first step in this. It is like the dominoes beginning to fall. All that to say, I do think by now he is attracted to her and he is becoming aware of that attraction at least I think his preconscious is yelling so loudly that his conscious can hear some sort of racket in the background 😉

Heck, I saw Lee’s attraction to Amanda from The First Time! lol.. but he managed to most of the time keep a lid on it..

Though I’d say the sizzling sparring between them was evident at the end of Magic Bus – in the pic I posted in comments and look at Filming Raul?! hooo haaaaaa.. yeah! that’s much more natural! 😉
I think there have been flashes of heat between these two every now and again..
whooo what a happy topic to think about!
anyone list any other moments up until this episode where you’ve seen plenty of heat between Lee and Amanda?? do tell!

                    1. That is true, Iwsod, from the first time. And how could I forget Magic Bus. I don’t know why I thought of Gift Horse first??? Maybe because those first little sparks were kind of instinctual??? In Gift Horse when Amanda is standing by herself at That reception in the black dress, I see Lee take a double take as he scans the crowd and sees her. I guess, to me, it is the first time that he sees her as an attractive woman in her own right. I think he goes into denial mode. That is why he doesn’t say beautiful while he is musing about Amanda being exotic in SAAB.

What about the cafe scene in TLODG, or on the bridge in AABH?

                  1. Hiya Danni!!

Just so you know – JWWM is currently on a bit of a ‘go slow’ for the month of August – usually we are discussing much more and I am usually publishing new posts more frequently – so this is a brilliant time for you to find us and catch up with us – but just wanted to let you know that usually there are more comments and more discussion amongst us.

‘Walk with me’ lol no it’s not a rabbit hole in Australia.. lol It comes from the first words Lee ever said to Amanda ‘Just walk with me’ – swoon!! 🙂 Soo I like to see this journey as us all walking together – with the characters, as their story unfolds – this is one reason why we don’t jump ahead with the story or discuss what’s ahead – because JWWM stays with the characters and the story. Hope that makes sense.. but if you have any questions feel free to ask 🙂 have you found your way over to nedlindger’s forum yet? If you would like to know about it just ask and someone here will be able to fill you in!

I’m usually on JWWM and commenting more often, however life is currently keeping me busy – and the go slow is great timing for me too!

At the same time, I’m looking forward to getting back into the flow of things in September and exploring season 3 with you all!!

I’ve been really enjoying all your comments Danni – keep them coming! 🙂

And I didn’t remember that Oz can also mean Australia! The original blog post mentioned something about an “Oz equivalent of going down the rabbit hole.” – I was assuming this was referring to the Wizard of Oz, but maybe not!
(I think I’m just too far behind and need to catch up with where everyone else is at!)

Again, I’m having so much fun reading everyone’s opinions that I can’t help piping up every now and then. I will definitely be checking out nedlindger’s as well!

              2. LOL, Morley….I just went back and watched that scene, and I do admit that I see a little bit of hunger in his look. But it looks like he’s hungry for information, not um, anything else. And even though we’ve never seen this level of attention towards here while she’s not in his sights, I chalk that up to him never being followed by her despite being told not to. It’s an odd mix of things that are happening here. They’ve grown to be professional partners. They’ve just started to become friends outside of work, which is much different than friends at work. And here she is acting all weird, but in a work sort of way. I guess I just don’t see this as being attractive behavior to Lee. Amanda doesn’t seem to be the type of person to do this sort of thing on her own for personal reasons, and I don’t think Lee would think of it like that either.

I’m sure my point of view has to do with my personal take on it. When I’m angry or mad at someone, I lash out or want to lash out and do not feel any sort of love or attraction. So I’m having a hard time making that connection here with these two now at this time.

                1. I look forward to your comments on what Lee says a the end of post 8 in light of your personal take on being angry… We do bring our own personal take into these things, and I am glad we do, because without it and sharing it, we would always only see it one way. And I am no Lee Stetson, so sometimes he confuses me.

  3. Actually I kind of like Francine here. She’s a little snide here but to be honest I probably would’ve said the same thing 😉 (but I would’ve never worn that hideous moooo outfit!). I do love Lee in this scene and it’s about to even get better!

  4. For this scene in the Q bureau there is quite a bit of different dialogue in the script.
Just thought I’d mention one line from Lee that didn’t make it into the scene:
    LEE :Any progress?
    FRANCINE:Not much, but I’m getting a pretty
    nasty impression of Larry Crauford.
    LEE:It’s always the same…some people
are like rocks. Turn ’em over and
you find ugly things under there.
    -end of quote from script-
Just thought I’d mention this one as I quite enjoyed the people are like rocks reference – and that it isn’t until you turn them over that you get to know them- and get to know the ugly things hidden..
I liked this because in this scene Lee is unsure what Amanda is up to – she’s hiding something and he knows it- is he wondering if there is something ugly under there??
or is he sure it is not ugly, but wants to know what’s hidden??
We are left to wonder until the next scene.. but I enjoyed the double meaning here for what Crawford is hiding and what Amanda is hiding 🙂

    1. It is more of that really knowing a person stuff, from that discussion in Billy’s office. I don’t think Lee would have to turn the Amanda rock over because he knows her, just like he will never believe that Harry is a double agent, because he knows Harry too.

  5. I don’t mind the earring scene so much. It’s that whole retracing your last steps when you misplace something. I have occasionally put something in my desk at school in an odd place so that I’ll remember to retrieve it later. Sometimes I forget that I put it there and have to walk myself through what I did earlier. And I will actually sit at my desk to help me remember. Of course, this is all a set up for later on, but there is something else I get out of it. Francine was not being as snarky as she can sometimes be. She listened and waited patiently for Amanda to do what she was doing. She didn’t stop her or interrupt her she went along with it and seemed to agree about the earring. And even though Francine didn’t think they got anything out of it she did admit that not only was Amanda intuitive, but she had lightning intuition. She knows that Amanda can be on to something sometimes and seemed to hoping that was the case this time. I think it’s more progress for Francine at this point regarding Amanda.

    1. Good call Valerie I like this scene at least now a little.. because you are right – it does show Francine is making progress with accepting Amanda! 🙂

  6. My kids and I have read 7 out of 15 L. Frank Baum’s Wizard of Oz books and there was a zebra very briefly in one, but not a major character. Also in one of the books Dorothy is riding in a wagon and the earth opens up and they fall back down to Oz. They are very fascinating books. They were written in the early 1900’s and in one of them they describe a device to communicate over a long distance and it sounded like a cell phone 🙂

    1. I’ve been meaning to read the Oz books, but somehow, I’ve never gotten around to it. (Jestress pauses and looks at the stacks of books around her room. Oh, yeah. That’s why.)

Jestress has decided that the zebra’s name is Chester. It’s a present from Billy. Whenever Lee sees Chester the Zebra, he’s supposed to sit down and do his paperwork without grumbling about it. Actual results may vary. 😉

    2. Oh gosh, there’s more than one WOO book?? I couldn’t make it through the first one and I’ve never seen the entire movie – any version. I’m looking forward to the WOTSTW episode, but not all the Oz references!

  7. Oh, yay. Headed toward my favorite scene in this entire episode, but first the Q. I think Amanda got out of there to keep Lee from seeing her. She probably has enough confidence to suppose Lee will be fine. He probably went back in and looked around to see if he could discover what Crawford was searching for.

I think the earring scene is to remind the viewers that Amanda can still ramble occasionally, she hasn’t lost that endearing quality. Francine is actually relatively friendly throughout the whole scene. Snarky comment, maybe, but delivered in a lighter tone than usual. Of course, Francine would also be asked to help. She knows the scooch-clean-up routine, I’m sure. Probably has done it a time or two. Being a nosy person, she’s perfect. (Hahaha)

Oh, I do like the way Lee approaches Amanda here. I remember thinking that he must have loads of questions. His offer to walk her to the car is just too polite, so you know he’s frustrated, but he’s keeping it under control. (progress, again) Handing her the purse is a little domesticated, I think. Shows how well they know each other and how close they are.

    1. Good call on Francine Debilyn! For her, she is being quite pleasant you are right!!! 🙂 and she seems to end the scene being even a little pleasant toward Amanda! shocking!!! 🙂

Whoooo love your idea about handing her the purse- very domesticated!

      1. I don’t know. I always sensed some attitude in that purse hand-off — sort of a way for him to be in her face as she thinks/hope she is about to make a get-away all innocent-like.

  8. I do love the way Lee is so focused on Amanda as he walks into the Q, her actions are front and center on his mind. I do think he is beginning to put some things together about Amanda, her weird behavior, Harry and this case. That must be intriguing to him, because it would mean that Amanda has some sort of info that he doesn’t. I know I raised the question initially about Amanda maybe acting like she was jealous, but I do think by know Lee must know that this has to do with something Agency related, because enough odd things have happened. And if Amanda did have any suspicions about his “personal errand” being Leslie related she is happily set right. Of course she also now can see how dangerous this situation can be for Lee as well as how much Lee really does care for Harry, which may add a bit of weight to those two comments that Harry made about what Lee thought of her.
But, most of all, I really enjoy watching what seems to be some new kinds of interaction between the two of them. There is an awareness in Lee that I notice when he hands her the purse.
Not sure what to make of the earring bit. I guess it is supposed to highlight her common sense approach to things. I do, however, respect that Little League mom arm.

    1. I thought Lee was intentionally not touching Amanda as he handed over the purse- which for him is very telling.. I like how you’ve labelled this ‘an awareness in Lee’ 🙂
Maybe it’s partly because he feels such strong emotions when it comes to Amanda and right now – he’s very confused.. the script has Lee actually say here in the Q bureau that he is feeling ‘bewildered’.
Bring on the next fabulous scene so we can discuss what he’s thinking!!! lol!!

    2. Yes, Morley, Lee is certainly focused on Amanda in this scene in the Q. I think he went back into Harry’s after rushing out to check on Harry and found the baseball. So that means he knows that she followed him and is mad at her for disobeying his order not to. He is trying to put it all together. In all the times I’ve seen this ep, I’ve never connected Leslie to Lee not wanting Amanda to follow him, and with this episode order, I still don’t think that.

I think Lee is beginning to wonder if Harry has asked Amanda to to do something. I think that idea might be starting to float around in Lee’s head as he’s trying to figure this all out. I don’t think that Lee would think that Amanda was following him around to see if his personal errand had to do with Leslie. Amanda already knows about Leslie, so there is no reason for him to hide that from her. And in my mind Leslie came up at their dinner, albeit only briefly, so I don’t see it belonging here. This also goes to show that even though Lee and Amanda are starting to mix personal and professional aspects of their lives, there are still some clear boundaries.

I actually think Lee may have lied to Amanda when he said that it was a personal thing he was doing, just because I think he thought she might not follow him if she thought it was personal. He knows she’s been acting weird lately and he’s trying to figure it out. By telling her not to follow him, he is trying to keep her safe and out of the intrigue because Lee still doesn’t have a handle on all of it and wants to keep her out of it until he does.

  9. While I think Leslie is history and Lee knows this, Amanda certainly doesn’t know it. For all she knew Lee could have been going to meet Leslie so, yeah, bet she is relieved. If Leslie is history it is something that will become apparent to Amanda over the coming weeks and months (I think without it ever being directly discussed) as she and Lee spend more and more time together both at work and on personal time.
I sure hope they weren’t paying someone to be continuity editor on this show! Random balconies and windows abound! Whoever it is, they need to be scooched!
Obviously Lee is used to sauntering into Harry’s apartment – more proof that he visits Harry quite regularly?
That’s some throwing arm and perfect aim Amanda’s got there – guess that’s the skills you pick up coaching Little League.
So, why did Amanda drive off without checking on Lee (even though she wasn’t supposed to be there). How does she know he isn’t hurt or shot? A shot was fired and she can’t have seen that it was fired out the window. Ugh, move on. Thank goodness for flimsy desk drawers – Harry must buy his furniture from Ikea.
Lee’s magic self-stying hair. Duffy playing Tetris. And Francine in her snow leopard cammo. Yep, just another day in SMK-land.
Glad you skipped the earring dialogue – lame, lame, lame.
Lee is onto Amanda now – the looks he is casting her way are a mixture of annoyance and curiosity. He trusts her 100% but he’s got to be wondering what’s going on. Does he think she is following him to see if he’s hooking up with Leslie? Or that she has been sticking close to him to stop him hooking up with Leslie? He might be wondering whether that’s part of it but I think his gut instinct will be telling him there’s a lot more to it than that – Amanda isn’t petty or stalky.
Maybe the Q-Bureau was a promotion of sorts. Lee does seem to be assuming some seniority here. I guess the Q is his territory now and he calls the shots where Q-Bureau business is concerned. Again, I think Billy knew this would be a good move for Lee in more ways than one. 😉

    1. yeah kiwismh.. the Q bureau does seem to be a promotion.. weird when Crawford was a ‘goof’.. hmm.. maybe when they gave the job to Lee they err rewrote the job description, upped the responsibility and assigned Q bureau bigger cases?!

Yeah!good call! Amanda doesn’t check Lee is okay!!! eek!!!

The random balconies person should be scooched? whahahaha! i love it!

Yeah another good call kiwismh- Lee sauntering in does imply he visits often.. though me thinks he is not use to arriving to a ransacked office 😉

      1. I’m not troubled by the idea of this Q bureau being a promotion for Lee, yet Crawford’s office when he was a goof. I think Crawford was a goof and he was assigned the oddball cases. I think the Q was where all the oddball files were kept and that was where he operated. However, I don’t think Crawford ever had had much responsibility other than to investigate those cases. Lee seems to be at a much higher level than Crawford, is in Billy’s inner circle, and is a candidate for promotion. So the difference here is that Lee is not just given the office and the files, but he is given the responsibility for deciding how to manage it, run it, etc. Perhaps he can use these oddball files to train Amanda? It’s sort of like Billy giving Lee a little piece of the management pie and he starts with the oddballs rather than main cases. Crawford never had that level of responsibility and was told what to work on when in my mind.

Does any of that make sense or did I ramble too much?
