The Big Picture. JWWM’s Journey so far: The First Time to The Boy Who Could be King

Hiya guys,

Here on JWWM, we tend to discuss the overall character/story progression in little chunks here and there as we walk through episodes and take on board what’s newly revealed in the character’s journeys. But.. this means everything is all spread out! It can be good to have a place to focus on the big picture sometimes!

So I’ll publish this blog post for discussions about the show from The First Time to The Boy Who Could be King.

I’ve previously written 2 posts aimed at an overall, broader discussion:

Amanda’s journey: from the first time to A little sex, a little scandal

Lee’s journey: from the first time… to Spiderweb

I’ve not had time to write anymore.. and I’m not likely to anytime soon!  If anyone would like to write one, I’d be happy to publish it. We don’t have to have a post though – we can use this blog post to discuss the journey so far..

How did we get here???!! Smile

So share and chat away.. just please don’t jump ahead [Iwsod is keeping spoiler free].

What do you think are the major, long running themes in the SMK story so far? [not just the love story]

What have been the big milestone moments for you so far? [we don’t need to see the story the same – don’t forget all views are very welcome!]

So glad you inspired this post Norma! I look forward to hearing from you guys when you are all back from your summer holidays or life’s other RL demands!! Bye!!

  2. There are two aspects of Lee and Amanda’s relationship that I’ve liked seeing as we go through this walk that I don’t think I paid much attention to when I originally watched the series. It’s how they grew as friends and then how they grew as partners. The friendship happened long before the partnership gelled. And it was nice to see how Lee just sort of gave in to the fact that no matter what happened down the road Amanda was going to be a close friend and someone he was always going to care about. The respect that he began to develop for her began to grow in leaps and bounds, once he realized she was more than just a housewife.

Amanda was able to show Lee what a true friend was. He always seemed to refer to so many people at the Agency as his friends, but he still was very much a loner. And when the chips were down (even on those assignments where he was faking it i.e. Savior and Burn Out) Amanda seemed to be the only one who stood up and stood by him. I loved to see that transition in him when he began to regard Amanda as so much more than he originally thought.

So happy to be back. I hope to not be away this long again, but being a first year principal is a lot of work. No more checking out the blog at school. At least not for a while. Things are starting to simmer down though.

      I sooooooo agree!!!!

So lovely to have a reminder of this Valerie- it seems like ages ago that Lee came to fully accept Amanda’s friendship in this way. I guess the walk tends to slow things down and the early events of the show become a bit dim in my memory! So thanks for the reminder about this wonderful aspect of their story!!!!

Swoony!!! No wonder Lee fell in love with Amanda 🙂 Emotional security was exactly what Lee needed.. and Amanda is more than capable of meeting this need 🙂

  3. Sounds great, Iwsod! And it looks like Norma’s off to a great start. As soon as I wrap my mind around this, I’ll come back with some thoughts. I love seeing that image of them in the train station and then the one of them at the concert. 🙂

  4. Wow I inspired a whole blog post?! I am so touched and honored! 😀 Thank you!

So … do we discuss it here, or on the links you provided? BTW I sure hope RL is going well for you, however busy it might be! 🙂

    • Hi Norma, sorry if I caused confusion by sharing those two links!
This post is for discussing the big picture from TFT to TBWCBK.

The two I linked to did not encompass so many eps. I linked back to the two other posts because others had shared awesome comments worth reading.. and some of us may wish to revisit the posts – if only to check and see – what did I say all the way back then?! lol. I can’t remember what I said!

But.. it can also be good to start a fresh conversation in the one place about the big picture. Why? because as the journey continues, we can sometimes look back on earlier moments and re-evaluate / re interpret them based on new information that’s revealed as the story unfolds.. plus, sometimes we just change our take on things as we explore with each other.. it’s all good!
So this blog post is a place on JWWM for a fresh conversation of the overall story – up to ep TBWCBK 🙂
      Bye!
