11/19 Season Three, Episode 20: Dead Men Leave No Trails–Scarecrow and Mrs King

Welcome back from the break everyone!!

[To read post 10 of Dead Men leave no trails.. See HERE]

Where were we in this episode? So Sallee killed Millicent, Amanda analysed Millicent’s diary to try and piece together information that can locate Sallee.
Oh yeah, and France squashed the guy with the red carnation. [I’ll get back to that conversation when I can!]

The last thing we saw was Amanda riding a bus, and tracking down Sallee’s morning Philly Hoagie with extra onions…
The shop owner confirms this after seeing Sallee’s photo, and Amanda asks him to not tell she’s looking for him… Amanda heads off.. to do what?

Well.. here’s where we pick up the episode! Feels soooo goooood to be back!

Next thing, we see Lee walking briskly into the bullpen..
Woman: Good morning, Mr. Stetson.
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001552252
LOL Lee seems to be in a good mood! I think it’s because he is out of his grandpa outfit and those dad shoes! Smile I’m in  a much better mood now too!
[Hey interesting she didn’t call him Scarecrow. I can never figrre out when he is what!]
Lee: Yeah.
Woman: We have a call for you on line six.
Lee: Six? Thank you.
Woman: Mm-hmm.

3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001552919
[See the agent on the phone behind him? I think that’s the lady who was in the meeting earlier, sitting next to Lee. I wonder if she is admin.. anyway. sorry I digress]
Lee: Yeah, Stetson.
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001558591
Amanda: Hi. Look, it’s me. I think I’ve tracked Sallee down.
[Love how she says ‘it’s me’ Smile ]
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001559259
Lee: Wait. Hold it, hold it. Is it Sallee? Have you seen him? 3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001562262
Amanda: I’m not sure. I haven’t seen him yet, but I think I’m just about to. You need to meet me on the two thousand block of Connecticut Avenue. Can you do that? I’m right across the street from an all-night sandwich shop, there are a couple of little tables out in front of it, okay? 3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001571604
Lee: Okay. I’ve got it—I’ll be there in ten minutes. You stay out of sight… 3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001576609
…Oh, and Amanda… if it is Sallee, and he shows up, don’t follow him. You hear me?
[whooo some intensity here from Lee. He knows her too well. To be honest, I’m siding with Lee. enough of the acting alone Amanda. this guy is very dangerous! Would she be that stupid to follow this guy??!! ]
Amanda: I wouldn’t think of it.3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001584284
(Amanda hangs up..)
[Uh oh.. I’m sensing she would be that stupid! 😉 ]
(She exits the phone booth.)
Next thing we see the coffee shop opposite the sandwich shop,
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001589289 and Amanda is seated inside reading a menu. 3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001591291
We see Sallee arrive.. the man from earlier stands outside and talks to him. 3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001594961
Amanda looks out the window of the coffee shop and sees Sallee. Hmm shame Sallee isn’t in his uniform! I guess he doesn’t wear it to and from work. I guess he wears the same shoes though (as Millicent’s diary said his shoes were wet). 3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001598298
Anyway, Sallee and the man talk, then Sallee walks away waving and glancing around. The man goes back inside the shop. 3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001603636
Drat! I guess the man told him?!
Amanda exits the coffee shop and starts to cross the street toward the sandwich shop.
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001609976
Yep.. she starts to follow him… and Oh boy, he knows what she looks like.. she is there plain as day, easy for him to see no?
He doesn’t seem to notice her. but then, he’s a pro so he wouldn’t let it show no?
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001612979
Sallee walks quickly along the street. 3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001617650
He turns a corner, down a side street. 3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001622322
Amanda turns down the side street, stops, looks around,
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001632332
No sign of him.
Will she continue? or go back? She probably shouldn’t have gone that far.. but.. that doesn’t mean she has to go further!
Whoooo this is quite suspenseful! I honestly have no idea as I type what’s coming next! Smile
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001634668
We see an empty alley way.. 3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001640340
Then, Amanda seems to have made a decision, and heads back to the main street.
Oh hoorah! Smart decision Amanda! What a moment!!!
I’m so glad she didn’t choose to continue. That would have been really irritating err and deadly!! Smile
Uh oh. Sallee pops his head from around a corner. Her heels totally give away that she has started walking away. lol.
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001643343
Sallee comes out from behind the building and walks back down the side street, picking up the pace. Is he going after Amanda? or trying to get out of there? Hopefully the latter!3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001648014
Next thing we see a park. Hmm I think that’s the building she caught the bus in front of.
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001654354
We see Amanda walking along a footpath in a residential neighbourhood, a taxi drives past and she tries to hail it.
What happened to meeting Lee at the coffee shop?! why didn’t she go back there? Maybe she wants to search for Sallee from the taxi.
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001657357
Amanda: Taxi!
The taxi drives past.
Boooo to taxis! [Boooo to cabs too!]
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001658692
Amanda continues walking along the street, then looks around and cuts down a side path.
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001670036
[her belt seems out of place no? Actually, it would make a fabulous garrotte Winking smile ]
Uh oh. Sallee is behind her following her!!!!! Gah!!!!
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001672372
Although lol I mean how could she not notice? She had even turned around to face behind her when trying to hail the taxi! oh whatev.
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001678044
We see Amanda head down a secluded part of the park. Ugh!
Sallee continues to follow Amanda, then pulls the garrotte out of his pocket.
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001684384
UH OH!!!!

We cut to Lee and Hoagie man. 3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001688388
Man: Last I looked, he was following her.
Lee: Which way?
Man: Down the street, towards the park.
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001691391
Lee leaves in a hurry.
Hoagie man seems to be wondering what all this fuss is about..
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001694060
Suddenly we cut back to Amanda. whooo in that minute it rained in the park. lol.. 3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001696396
Sallee observes from the bushes.. evil bushes..
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001700734
Lee runs across the road toward the park. Quick Lee!!
Seems he has his gun drawn. whooooo..
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001701067
Eeek!!!! I can’t look!!!
Can someone else write this bit???!!!!!
ohhh okay.. I’ll keep watching 😉
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001705739
Amanda is walking along a footpath in the park.
Sallee steps out from the bushes behind her, and watches while holdin
g the garrotte.
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001713079
Gah!!! those eyes!!! He doesn’t seem to blink!!!! Hunting his prey.. this guy is absolutely intense!!
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001718418
Lee’s arm snakes out and grabs Amanda,
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001721087
pulling her around the corner.
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001721421
Me like, it’s in moments like this that we are reminded Lee is actually a highly skilled agent who is not to be messed with Winking smile

Lee and Amanda recover.. and peek around the corner.
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001724257
I’m going to pause here for the moment, and we’ll pick up right where we left off next post. Will Sallee get away? We’ll see!!!

I don’t  know what’s coming next. LOL maybe the comment I’m about to make will be cancelled out by something. lol.

But I loved how in this moment, Lee’s first concern was finding Amanda and ensuring her safety. I think this was his first priority because he went bounding into this scenario, knowing Sallee, the wanted man, was in that park somewhere hunting for Amanda. Lee could have stayed back a little and tried to get Sallee to reveal himself with Amanda as bait – but this never ever crossed Lee’s mind for a second. Just wasn’t an option and.. I love that! Smile

One last comment from me.. I thought this little moment:3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001721421
3.20 DEAD MEN LEAVE NO TRAILS.avi_001724224
was a great little throw back to this little moment:

😆
2.02 TIMES THEY ARE A CHANGIN.avi_000271229
another grab her and pull her around the corner taking her by surprise moment Smile And yes.. it’s an excuse to post an image of Lee looking his dapper European episode best Winking smile 2.02 TIMES THEY ARE A CHANGIN.avi_000268059
Ahem.. sorry too much beige in this ep.. I need some suave Lee! swoon emoticon

Can’t wait to hear what you make of this part of the episode! Feels so good to be walking again!!! Smile

  1. I was watching this ep with my aunt and commented on the wet sidewalk and she suggested it was sprinklers. And if you listen closely you can kind of hear them

  2. Everyone’s comments here are so interesting! Particularly with the script difference.

My initial thoughts at this point are always: Amanda, this is where you’re getting a little “enthused”. You are BY YOURSELF following a presumed-dead terrorist who strangles women. Maybe not your best idea. (But you do shine on everything else in the episode. 😉)

Then reading the comments about script changes does kinda put a bit of a different spin on it. As to whatever declaration from Lee was written in the original script, Morley wrote: “I don’t think Lee wants it that way either. I think that is why we have to wait, because Lee is waiting. And I think that is special.” Oooh, I love this, Morley. Something we just don’t see much of these days is slowness in anything, especally relationships. I think the waiting of SMK is so genuinely special, and is part of Lee & Amanda’s journey that is so powerful and keeps us coming back after all these years. And I agree with iluvsmk’s comment: I just like the look of love in Lee’s eyes. I don’t know how BB can make those eyes do that. But every time he gets that certain loving sparkly light in his eyes, it is so powerful and wonderful and makes my heart do cartwheels. ❤

Also, the wet sidewalks used to drive me bonkers. But I agree with the hearing sprinklers in the background.

  3. I find it a little odd that the woman tells Lee that there is a call for him on line six. She doesn’t say it’s Mrs. King or your partner or anything official. I can’t believe it’s because she still only has a guest pass, but I guess that must be it. But what happened to Amanda King being a code name all its own? What episode was that in? I can’t remember.

Love the “It’s me” too, iwsod. So different than their first phone calls in TFT.

And I’m all for Amanda not doing what she’s told, but this guy is just plain dangerous. And he knows what Amanda looks like. And she told Lee she wouldn’t follow him. So what the heck? I guess I’ll have to give her the benefit of the doubt and say she was just going to see where he went and stop at the corner where he turned, but this is Amanda…she just can’t resist. Not her smartest choice here. It appears she must have followed him for quite a ways since she is trying to hail a taxi rather than go back to meet Lee at the coffee shop. Or maybe she realized Sallee was following her and she tried to lose him in the neighborhood? But Lee seems to catch up with her lickety split and the sandwich guy can see the park? Grrr…this really makes no sense.

Thank you for the suave Lee pic!!!! Sooo much better than beige Lee!

  4. i promised myself I would try to play catch up this evening. I’m already behind. I did read some of the comments as they were coming in. After the comments of Lee’s European hair, I began to think of Amanda in LODG. In that Amanda is distraught over Marianna’s death and Lee comes out of the restaurant to give her that side hug and comfort her. It’s similar to the one he gives her after seeing Millicent, but in this one you can see a bit more intimacy in how he does it.

Also, later in the episode Amanda doesn’t want to stay in the car because of what happened to Marianna and convinces Lee to take her with him. She even makes sure to duck out of the way quickly when the bomb is discovered. She has grown so much since then in what she will take on and how she handles these intense, dangerous situations. She has become much stronger and braver.

    1. Lovely reminder – thanks Valerie. Yes with Marianne that was a similar situation, an innocent woman who wasn’t a spy who had just been murdered discovered by Lee and Amanda.. and they had been talking with her earlier. Great catch!

She has grown so much since then in what she will take on and how she handles these intense, dangerous situations. She has become much stronger and braver.

So true! Amanda has lost some of her naiveté.. the reality of being involved in the spy bizz.. what was it Lee said as the chauffeur in service above beyond? something about finding out things are lousy- anyone? too tired to look. but.. just thinking Amanda has learned to cope better with ‘lousy’..
since I’m too tired to look up something. lol. I think that’s a signal for me to sign off.

Wonderful to hear you are catching up Valerie!!! 🙂 byeeee

    1. You are right Cindy, the script is really different and adds some insight to this scene. In sum, Amanda feels remorse that Millicent was killed, she feels some responsibility for Millicent’s death (i.e. through her pursuit of Sallee). As such, Amanda gets on the bus the next morning to follow the clues in the diary. After placing a call to Lee, Amanda spots Sallee through a window reflection. She makes a choice to pursue the suspect rather than loose him, however it soon becomes apparent that Sallee is aware of her presence. Amanda realizes that she is in danger and tries to get away (thus not waiting for Lee’s arrival and the journey to the park). Amanda hides in the bushes only to find that Sallee has found her and is about to give her some first hand experience of his skill with la touche de la veuve. Amanda barely dodges Sallee. In the meanwhile Lee has been to the sandwich shop and finds out where Amanda went and he now arrives at the park. He calls out Amanda’s name which send Sallee running onto the city bus and thereby escapes. Lee searches for Amanda who is lying on the ground with her hands covering her head. Lee panics but it turns out Amanda is unharmed. Both are very frightened by what has happened but Lee covers his fear with irritation. They both know that Amanda barely escaped Sallee and this knowledge deeply affects them.

It does explain the reason why Amanda walks away from her meeting spot with Lee and why she tries to hail a cab. I wish they had kept some of the scene as I really love it when Lee’s love for Amanda “slips” out. 🙂

      1. Of course Amanda would feel guilty about Millicent’s death. I had never connected that. This isn’t just a case, this is a bit personal for her. But I am glad they didn’t film all that grittiness, and I am glad they didn’t have Lee getting irritated – I think he has progressed passed that now. If they had filmed that I think we should have seen some sort of declaration from him, maybe not a full out one, but I wouldn’t think he could get the irritation on anymore.

        1. I hope that this comment isn’t a spoiler as it has to do with the original script.
“I am glad they didn’t have Lee getting irritated – I think he has progressed passed that now. If they had filmed that I think we should have seen some sort of declaration from him, maybe not a full out one, but I wouldn’t think he could get the irritation on anymore.”

The script did have a declaration from Lee. Anyway, I agree with you about not liking the irritation, I just like the look of love in Lee’s eyes. Those moments that push him closer to admitting to Amanda how he really feels about her.

          1. I am intrigued by what you say is in the script. When we get to an appropriate part of this episode in the walk where sharing what is in the script won’t be a spoiler, I would love to know what they wrote for Lee to say. But, I will be patient, as hard as it is for me 🙂

          2. a declaration – wow.. you know, I kinda prefer the declaration isn’t in the middle of him being irritated and scared out of his mind. I’d like it to come from a place that says – I choose to share this declaration with you, and I’m ready to do it!!
After all this waiting.. I want to know Lee chooses to declare his love! does that make sense?!

Come on Lee, take charge man!

Anyway, I agree with you about not liking the irritation, I just like the look of love in Lee’s eyes. Those moments that push him closer to admitting to Amanda how he really feels about her.

            Very true!

What do we all think at the moment? Is Lee needing a push to admit to Amanda how he really feels??

            Liked by 1 person

              1. I don’t think Lee wants it that way either. I think that is why we have to wait, because Lee is waiting. And I think that is special. I think he is waiting for a moment that isn’t work related, when they are both alone and focused on each other, when he can be deliberate and clear and not influenced by anything else besides the way he and Amanda are together. That is so rare. And especially rare because so much of what we see in shows is a leaked confession that the confessor wishes he or she could shove back inside of them but ends up being catapulted forward because they let it slip. Not Lee… and not Amanda for that matter. And I like it, its rather adult and mature and very lovely. Or at least that is what I hope comes out of them 😉 That is what I am telling myself as I patiently wait…

                1. Hi Morley, I’m going to need to hold off responding to this one in depth- I can’t without jumping ahead… Well, other than to say I prefer a deliberate declaration rather than an accidental one too.
Then again, sometimes I feel an accidental one is better than none at all…lol… not knowing what’s ahead I’m sure I felt this when first watching this story unfold.
                  – I’ll look forward to hearing your thoughts when the declaration story has finally unfolded – till then, I’m going to hold on to these thoughts.. 🙂

Hi everyone, I’ll be back at the end of this day to respond – great to hear from you all!

                  1. I know! I am sure I was wanting an accidental declaration back then when the show first aired. Anything. I bet I was hoping that Billy would send them out into the woods again. I wonder what Lee would have done if that had happened. But no. And so we wait…I have heard that waiting is good for the soul. As my son says, “I have high standards and I am incredibly patient.” Well, I hope he gets as good as we do with this show… he is a great guy (both he and Lee).

      2. Thanks so much for sharing this iluvsmk! [and so great to see you’re back too!!]
wow.. what a difference! and you’ve written it up so poetically!

It does explain well why she didn’t wait at the café – which takes away the concept that she had disobeyed Lee here.. which I like lol.

I feel a little disjointed with this ep because of the break, and I hadn’t really stopped to think about what Millicent’s death had meant to Amanda – for this reason I really love that you shared this part of the script!! [to be honest I always love to hear of differences or insights from scripts- there use to be a time when I would read the script along with the ep but nowadays I have no time and don’t go near scripts!!]
It was Amanda’s tracking down Sallee that put Millicent in danger. ouch.. and Millicent is not a spy person who knows the risks that go with the job.. double ouch..
but – I also think Millicent was already in danger before Amanda came along. Sallee, having lived with Millicent and given her so much knowledge of himself, was IMHO probably going to kill her eventually one day, once the job was done.
Or heck, maybe he was going to declare his love and ask Millicent to go on the lamb with him haaaaaa..

But yes, Millicent’s death as a suburban, kind, naïve woman would have hit extremely close to home for Amanda.. no wonder she looked so sad when Lee said Billy had ordered it be turned over to the police in the morning.. and no wonder she was up very early tracking him down before his scheduled Philly Hoagie with extra onions.
I’m also glad the ep didn’t get too dark and angsty.. I think they gave us just enough.. though lol I do wish what we go in the ep made some sense with her not meeting Lee in the café. Oh well we can’t have it all I guess! and it was an awesome suspenseful sequence that I really enjoyed!

        thanks for sharing iluvsmk!

        1. Blush thank you for your kind words iwsod. I love having people to talk to about SMK. Most of the people I am surrounded by don’t know the show (their loss).

You are bang on with your comment about Millicent being in danger before Amanda came along. Again in the script Lee says exactly that. He tries to comfort Amanda and help alleviate her sorrow by stating that Sallee would most certainly have killed Millicent after he accomplished his task anyway.

          Liked by 1 person

          1. Yep, same here! I don’t know anyone in RL who knows about SMK! [yeah! their loss! 🙂 ]

Lee says the same thing? ah cool! 🙂
I guess Amanda may also have felt guilty about not being able to save her.. and stop Sallee in time. I guess this is good motivation for Amanda to stop Sallee and his current plans in time too.. [along with national security and all that 😉 ]

      3. Thanks for that, iluvsmk. It helps explain this part of the episode much better. I too would have liked to have seen something more like the script. It would have made for a powerful moment for these two.

  5. Yes, I remember when I was younger being creeped out by this, too. It helps that the guy who plays Salee is so good at getting that creep factor, with the unblinking stare and he has a kind of predatory air about him.

  6. I need some confetti! I am caught up and it only took six months and a hiatus. So glad to be walking with all of you again.

Why doesn’t Amanda go sit in a coffee shop in a busy public place? That is what I am screaming when I see her head into that park. I guess she is trying to be wise and protect herself and also not lose Sallee? Maybe that is why she tried to get a cab? But then, maybe she had no choice after that but to turn into the park. I suppose it would be a place that lee would be able to find her… I don’t know. It sure is a tense moment and I feel such relief when Lee grabs her. I am sure they both do as well.

I like the way Lee is so happy first thing in the morning. All is right with the world. But really, I still think he should have been a tad bit on edge knowing that Amanda had sunk her teeth into the Sallee case and she was on her own out there. By now he knows her well enough. He has got to know she wasn’t going to sit around slowly sipping her morning coffee.

    1. Hoorah!!!! Good work Morley!! and just in time too 🙂
lol it makes me glad I took the break I had to 🙂

Yeah, maybe Lee underestimated Amanda’s ability to use the diary to track down Sallee based on his being a music lover 😉

  7. I can remember finding this part of the episode very suspenseful and quite frightening when I watched it first. I think it is the only time I ever felt that type of real fear when watching SMK. I think a lot of it is down to the actor who plays Sallee (whose name escapes me, I can only think Dr Kruger). The whole time I was watching it I was saying, stay where you are Amanda, don’t follow him. I suppose a lof of us (well, me anyway) can relate to the fear of wandering in a lonely spot knowing that there is menace behind. And the park or suburbs can be very lonely during the daytime.
Anyway, I really liked this episode and tried to share it with family members who don’t have quite the devotion to SMK that I have. For some reason, they just laughed all the way through it, especially at poor Millicent. And they didn’t find it anyway scarey!
Its great to be back on the walk!!!
Lee is looking good here (when does he not) but the still of him walking through the bullpen surprised me. I hadn’t realised that he was in quite such a good mood. I really liked him turning up in time and saving Amanda from Salle.

    1. I meant to mention the suspense in this scene too. I remember feeling the same way as I watched it. Nicely done by SMK and I think that’s partly why this is one of my favorite episodes. And yes, why is Lee in such a good mood?

    2. (I see that over the hiatus I have not lost my talent for hitting whatever key combination it is that erases my post in progress 😦 )

I agree with you, Michele. I think that, as women, and therefore generally not as powerful or fast as men, the idea of being followed brings up some very basic fears. Add to this that Amanda (and we viewers) are already familiar with how ruthless Sallee is, and we get a lot more anxiety from this scene. Thank goodness this scene wasn’t in the dark!

Bummer that your other episode-viewers laughed! I mean, I do like that SMK is funny, and I did find Millicent quirky, but I can’t say I found her comical. On the other hand, viewers watching SMK today, especially ones not around in the 1980’s, would find a lot of humor in all kinds of things, including Millicent’s wardrobe, domestic lifestyle, etc. My (adult) kids are aghast that she would do something like invite a stranger who knocked on your door in for tea, but this did happen back when women were homemakers as an occupation, and the world was a little gentler. I don’t know that it happened in the 1980’s, but then Millicent is a throwback to earlier decades. It certainly was the way of the 1950’s! I find it fascinating and eye-opening to see these reminders of how things have changed … and what things stay the same!!

      1. If I remember correctly the style of the 50’s were “in” again during the 80’s (i.e. Stray Cats, Queen’s “Crazy little thing called love”, ect.). So Milicent may have been “like totally in” back then. 😉

When I first saw this I thought Amanda was on her way back to the coffee shop (must have glossed over the Man’s conversation with Lee) and that she realized that she may be in danger and that’s why she was catching the cab.

      2. Hiya Raffie! so great to hear from you!! So true what you say about being followed…. and being a woman.. scary stuff!!

Ah drat! I know the feeling with writing out a long comment then having it accidentally delete. When I know I’m going to write a long comment, I’ll write it in word and then copy and paste it into wordpress. I don’t trust it!

  8. The weather geek in me had to go back and check the skies in the scenes before the rain. Yep, we see partly cloudy in some images with the sun peeping through before the freak rain hits. I thought maybe they shot the scene on two different days. In the first few clips, I was wondering why she didn’t wear sunglasses and maybe a better disguise just to be safe. I did enjoy this scene with both the music and Amanda using her intuition to track this guy down. Glad Lee showed up when he did. Did he honestly think she’d stay put? lol!

      1. It’s got to be sprinklers, otherwise Amanda would be drenched too – unless she’s got a super compact umbrella hidden in her shoulder bag… 😉

      2. It totally is the sprinklers. I was just re-watching it and I can clearly hear sprinkler sound effects. Now, it may have ACTUALLY been rain and they added sprinkler effects to explain the wetness as there is no visual indication of sprinklers.

Yep, it’s sprinklers. It’s been several months since I watched this ep. so my recall wasn’t good. I feel silly for saying rain when you can hear it. If they were in my part of the country, freak rain storms on one side of the street actually happens.

    1. All geeks of any variety are very welcome 🙂

guys I think the sprinkler theory is a winner!!!
though my magic rain theory was maybe more fun 😉 haaaaaaa…
but I reckon you guys are right- parks need to be watered!

You know, Sara, I thought your idea about the dark sunglasses and hat is a great one! so true!!! I mean she knows Sallee knows what she looks like!!! Hmm.. maybe this is a lesson Amanda learns after this little close call 🙂 because we all know she isn’t going to stay put and just wait for Lee 😉

    1. Does she recognise Sallee from the photo that Millicent had of him sleeping? (It’s a bit of a blur – I think I need to rewatch this episode – I mainly remember Millicent’s violin)

Other than that, two comments on the hair:
      1) Amanda’s hair looks almost normal here
      2) I miss Lee’s European hair…it looks so good

      1. Yeah I know the feeling learjet, it’s all a bit fuzzy with this ep!

Sallee found the sleeping creeping photo and took it. I’d say it’s that photo Lee showed of Sallee to the newbies – but with a close up.

Agree! Lee’s European Hair is peak Lee hair (IMHO).

Great to see you stop by Learjet and thanks again for updating the random blog posts while I was away. I’ve put that little feature to rest for a while and I’ll bring it out again when I need another break! [which hopefully won’t be anytime soon! 🙂 ]

        1. Apart from needing to acquire more emotional maturity, European Lee is peak Lee for me, full stop. The dowdy suburban Dad look doesn’t work for me, so I just imagine the hair, the clothes, etc, in these scenes more like European Lee. He can be emotionally mature and uber-refined at the same time…
Good to be back on the walk although free time is in short supply in my life these days. 🙂

Yeah I hear ya about being short on free time! While the walk is back, it’s not going to be a fast walk – my life is still full of other commitments that mean I can’t rush things, even if I want to! Hopefully keeping a slow pace will work well for you also.

Otherwise, we’ll look forward to seeing you stop by whenever you can!
