The anticipation hangs in the air as people get ready for the number one ranked awards show dealing exclusively with the Villains of Scarecrow and Mrs. King.

Wow, how time flies, it’s only been three years since the last GTAs. 😉 — NOTE TO SELF: remember to insert lame and slightly inappropriate joke about sticking to Lee Stetson like a 10 week old tan (what the heck does that even mean!?!) and wait for polite nervous laughter from the audience.
Like any other prestigious awards gala, we have decided to s–t–r–e–t–c–h the proceedings to boost ratings and add a pre-show. Whoops! Strike that. I mean to say I am paying homage to IWSOD’S trend of breaking down each episode to an increasing number of sections (which I heartedly approve – can you believe “The First Time” had only ONE post?), by splitting this awards extravaganza into three parts (or maybe four. We’ll see how it goes).
I am sure by the time the season 4 GTAs roll around, we will have a pre-preshow , the preshow a recap of all the previous season award winners
SEGUE ALERT: Speaking of recaps, let’s take a moment to revisit our honoured past recipients.
Season One
I must admit I was a little nervous because I couldn’t find the link and thought for sure I had done a baddies list for season one. Then I figured an AU me must have not done so in an alternate universe and somehow we got swapped. Hey – it happens a lot more than people think! (Just check out Star Trek: Deep Space Nine if you don’t believe me.) Then I remembered the first awards were not formally called the Golden Teacups and I was able to track them down. Needless to say I am relieved that the cosmic strings separating our universes are relatively stable and I am not totally losing my nut (at least not about this).

Season Three
Season Three saw many changes in the progression of Lee and Amanda’s relationship (about TIME!) but we also see an evolution in the baddies. They have become more menacing and believable and less fanciful — I fear the days of the delightful Zinieov (“Saved by the Bells”) are no more. Even though the BaddiephoneTM and Teadrinking Villians still make the occasional appearance, the only BadlydressedbadguyTM we see in Season Three is Francine Desmond.
GASP! Oooh yes! I just did go there! Controversy already – the GTA preshow just got POLITICAL! – I know some of us are loyal Francine fans, but seriously, just the number of times she got in the way of Lee and Amanda’s relationship developing to the next level (Francine – just GO AWAY ALREADY!!) and the catty comments to Amanda deserves a mention on this page. Remember when she made fun of Amanda’s quilted satin pajamas in “Welcome to America, Mr. Brand”? Hmmmm. Do you remember? Here is the outfit to refresh your memory.
Okay, to be honest, Amanda actually deserved to be razzed for that outfit. It was pretty awful.

Despite Amanda’s unfortunate outfit (which was thankfully ruined), Francine should not be so quick to throw stones.
Keeping in the tradition of the pre-awards show focusing on fashion (or lack thereof), I present just a small sample of Francine’s ensembles from season three (thank-you IWSOD for the use of your wonderful screen caps)

I call this lovely entry “All Hail, the Paramecium Queen. Bow Down to your Paramecium Queen” 
Here is a close up so you can truly appreciate the cilia. And the earrings (though we have figured Francine’s earrings are actually high tech miniaturized weapons so I can give those a pass).

And here you thought a black and white outfit couldn’t clash. That, my friends, takes talent!
Francine is truly fashion forward and ahead of her time because I am sure her sleeves are made up of QR codes. What secrets are encrypted on that dress? Points to Beaman for not being distracted by the pattern mishmash.

Wait! Wha!?! How is this even possible? I would love to see a fanfic when Francine bumps into Beaman after all these years. I guess the Francine/Beaman shippers were onto something.
Our Francine is certainly not afraid of colour. Here is a couple from her Mellow Yellow Phase.

This outfit shows off Francine’s competitive streak. Not only is her ensemble really handy when she has to do surveillance in plain sight on a 1970s couch, she is giving T.P. “Fashion Plate” Aquinus a run for his money for “Worst Outfit of the Day”. Gotta keep her unbeaten streak alive! At least when Lee wore Dan’s, I mean Dean’s plaid jacket, he knew he looked stupid.

Guess what? – Those aren’t your grandmother’s curtains, that isn’t even a skirt. Those are pants, people!
(“Flight to Freedom” – there were a LOT of fashion crimes going on in that episode. )
And finally from our favourite “Meh” episode of the season, “Three Little Spies”
I call this outfit “HuntsTM Tomato Paste Goes Out to Sea.” It appears to be made of sweater type material. I am seriously crying right now, I am laughing so hard. And what is even more impressive she was even able to find shiny matchy match lipstick. This doesn’t happen by accident — this outfit took some careful planning. (And the pearls to class it up. Crying folks! I am crying!)
And finally…
This lovely look is also from “Three Little Spies” Do you Martha Smith must have really ticked off the wardrobe department that week? Well, at least the stripes are straight. (From a sewing perspective, that is actually hard to do.)
But, believe it or not, this isn’t a post about Francine’s Fashion Faux Pas. Well, I guess maybe it is. How did I even get here? Oh, I was talking about Badlydressedbadguys. Right… Hmmmm, my family may be onto something when they claim I am easily distracted and often go off on tangents.
Ooh, I am being told by my producer that we are ready to start the show!

I just want to say a POX on Photobucket who is holding some of the screen caps hostage by reducing their resolution years later because I did not pony up some US greenbacks. BOO! I believe that is called extortion, my friends (well, I call it extortion) and I think they are being giant poopie heads. Sorry for the strong language, but I am not amused.

Yeah, that is annoying. I wondered what causes some of the pictures and memes on the blog to look like that. It’s not just you or this post that looks like that. I thought maybe it was because I was on my phone. Good to know it’s not on my end, but bummer that Photobucket has done that. It’s terrible marketing/advertising for them. Every single unviewable picture on this blog has Photobucket written across the face of it. Over the last few months, I’ve come to associate Photobucket with bad pictures.

Hear hear! Pox on photobucket! soooo glad I didn’t end up hosting the images on this blog there. what a nightmare.
I host my images on wordpress but with that has come it’s own challenges.
Due to my love of too many images (lol) I have to pay $$ to wordpress for the amount of storage I’m using for images. If this blog is to stay in place for years to come I am going to need to eventually go back and cull images shared – to bring the storage back below the storage level we get for free! It’s pretty generous so there will still be many images.
I’m thinking if we do a future walk that I might just start a second blog. it’s cheaper that way. lol.
LOL this is probably not terribly interesting to people who stop by but this is the non fun side of running a blog I guess. Real life creeps into the smk fun sometimes! I’m playing around with ideas at the moment.. I do want to keep the blog posts and comments on this blog accessible to the public ongoing, but may close it off at some point to new content. and shift over to a new blog to start a walk all over again.

School is finally out, graduations are done, and my stress levels are slowly starting to lessen. My celebration is some time to myself and the opportunity to finally catch up and participate more in the walk.
Couldn’t wait to sit and read The Golden Teacup Awards. The Zinieov mention just made me feel wistful. He was such a great villain.
Seeing so many of Francine’s outfits compiled like this almost hurt my eyes. When I was in the 80s I so loved everything that we wore, but looking back it does not hold up well. Francine’s outfits seemed to be all over the place. But most of what she wears is pretty much her personality. Francine is pretty bold, out there and in your face. Her attire is certainly the same.

Hey Cindy – I finally have a chunk of time to check out your awesome posts! My husband is away for work and all my dependents are put to bed or have at least been fed their dinner. I’ve got a glass of wine to make your posts even more enjoyable!
First – totally approve of your following iwsod’s lead and breaking your awards up into multiple sections with multiple posts. There is so much to delve into and appreciate, er, make fun of!
Zinieov is in a class by himself…they just don’t make ‘em like they used to. “Badlydressedbadguy™” ROFL!! Classic!
And while I am a Francine fan, I do love to make fun of her. She is easy pickins. And I agree completely – that pink satin pj thing Amanda wore (What WAS she thinking?) was awful. I know TPTB were trying to make a contrast between Lee’s “-ie girls” and Amanda, but did they need to show us Amanda in her version of a satin outfit? I’d have been much happier to just wait to see her in an outfit that is actually supposed to be satin, and one that Lee would approve of, if you catch my drift. I vote for the Pepto being the better wearer of pink.
This whole awards show preshow with the “red carpet” look is genius! Who are you channeling…Joan or Melissa? Cilia and QR codes, my sides are bursting! (so is my bladder…)
Wow – who knew Beaman could look that good! Why is it that men age so much better than women??? Life is just unfair.

Okay, it seems like there are a million TV stories on right now about this upcoming HBO special on Princess Diana and I got to say one thing: when you look at Diana’s outfits in the early to mid-80s – Francine is absolutely on the cutting edge of fashion. Hideous, garish, awful fashion – but still – her fashion game is strong!

When I first started the blog I had few expectations. I knew wanted to walk through all episodes-but how and what that would look like I had no idea. I didn’t really think too far ahead at the time, I was just searching for a place to explore smk freely… and so I created it for myself. Simples!
Sometimes it’s better not to think too far ahead: because if you do, you’ll never get started – because it can feel overwhelming or like too big a commitment! Also when I started I had no idea I’d be writing 20 odd posts to get through one episode! LOL. We’ll see.. in season 4 the sizes may diminish again! lol..
It’s all evolved over time – thanks to the contributions of commenters and the fans who help by transcribing the dialogue – this has all kept the walk going and created a community where respectful differing opinions and a general obsession with this show can be shared and enjoyed together. If it was just me blogging I think I probably would have randomly covered a couple of episodes a year. lol.
Err but no, I had idea what the future held for JWWM 🙂 Had I foreseen the golden teacup awards, I would have been blogging years earlier! 🙂

Okay, you know I’m one of those crazy Francine fans, but yes, she was an interfering cow sometimes and this made me laugh pretty hard when I found it.

Cindy, I love this. I have to admit to feeling a little confused as the villains of season three were revealed to be Francine’s outfits (not that I’m disagreeing 😀 And Amanda’s satin pj’s are definitely in there as well) . Then I realised this was the warm up😀 So, to quote the badly dressed Francine (or misquote) I can’t wait for opening night

Yeah, I got a little distracted there. 🙂 I really have to work on focusing more. And for the record, I do like Francine and wouldn’t consider her a villain, though my opinion of her was drastically different when I was watching this as a teenager. We would boo and hiss when she was on screen. Poor Martha Smith!

I am crying a little into my teacup today because I owned and wore at least three work outfits in the last 80s that are Francine’s, just in different colours (I can’t wear yellow!). Maybe that’s why the Fates made sure I didn’t meet my husband until 1991?
