Hooray! It’s (Cover) wedding time!! The ship is in port: San Angelo, to conduct the ceremonies…
Anyone recognise this port?? Where is it really?
We see a minister/priest/ celebrant or whatever.. I shall call him a priest and be done with it 
We see him tell a groom: you may now kiss the bride.. And.. he does! but… LOL!
A few things about this moment: Remember those hats?! Her top is completely see through! and.. the ‘just married’ groom is NOT wearing a wedding ring!!
Cue the music! They walk back down the aisle and who’s next in line to get married? Lee and Amanda! 🙂 They smile at the newly married couple and congratulate them.
The priest gives Lee and Amanda a wave: come on down!!!!! LOL.. but not with the enthusiasm of a game show host He is hilarious and perfectly played..
You just know he has already done fifty weddings in the last hour! 
He seems to be almost in a wedding stupor!!
Lee and Amanda are lined up and ready to walk up the aisle next!
Lee: Let’s go
Amanda: I can’t
Lee seems really nervous suddenly!!! : Why?
Amanda: you’re on my dress
Lee: oh!! 
[Haaa! I like it! good gag before we hit the romance! I am sure Lee was worried Amanda was going to do a version of runaway bride! ] The music begins.. and they start walking down the aisle.. [weird for a groom to walk his own bride down the aisle huh.. but oh well what else could they do I guess! ]
We get some lovely wide shots of them walking down the aisle..
We see the couple going after Lee and Amanda arrive behind them.. oh my.. they do run a ‘ tight ship’ here don’t they!
When they reach the priest, Lee looks happy and relieved to have made it!
He takes a deeeeeep breath. Amanda seems calm.. and the priest starts. Do you mind if I include LOTS of pics? didn’t think so 
Priest: Lee Stesman,…
do you take this woman…
to be your lawful wedded wife….
Lee listens very intently here and nods ever so slightly in silent agreement.
,.…to love and to honour,.…
….in sickness and in health,.…
….for richer, for poorer, till death do you part?
At this, Lee seems to wake up- oh yeah! Ah.. I have to do something here!!!! 
He looks at Amanda.. she turns and looks back at him.. and then Lee continues.
Lee: I do. 
Whoa! I swear he has a look on his face like: I can’t believe I just said that! I love that Amanda was still looking at him when he said I do!
Ohh hilarious! When Lee has finally said ‘ I do’ the 
priest gives him a facial expression like- about flippin time- I’m so over this!!! 
I never 
noticed he did that before – can’t think why.. there’s nothing else very interesting going on in this scene.. err is there?! After all Lee and Amanda are just.. playing their covers!
Priest: Amanda King, do you take this man.… [whooo 
haaaa Amanda licks her lips here!! when he says do you take this man! ]
….to be your lawful wedded husband,….
At this moment- we cut to Lee to see his reaction to these words.. Very telling IMHO!
That line- ‘your lawful wedded husband’ seems to be the part of the vows Lee has the most trouble dealing with.. why??
Ohh I really want to hear your thoughts guys!!! Is this a reference to the fact that it isn’t lawful?? but then why hasn’t he told Amanda?! wait.. I guess he might not have had time to- if he figured out his way of not officially marrying her at the last moment.. Hmm..
I prefer to think it’s the thought of being a husband that is most controversial to Lee here..(and I think that this is very significant but I’ll get to that later..) because when the priest says do you take this woman to be your lawful wedded wife – he doesn’t react to that! Lee seems to grimace.. but then..accept it as the priest continues Amanda’s vows: ….. in sickness and in health,….
….for richer, for poorer, till death do you part?
Amanda without hesitation: I do.
Ok guys.. why doesn’t Amanda promise to love and honour Lee?
looks like they edited something out there.. bit weird! I never noticed before that their vows are not both exactly the same!
Priest: You may put the ring on her finger and repeat after me.
Lee looks terrified!! I guess we are thinking- did he even bother to get a wedding ring? (well he already had a wedding ring that fit Amanda right? she wore it in There Goes the Neighbourhood and she gave it back to him!) or maybe he was worried he forgot it.
Lee feels around in his pocket to find it, while Amanda turns, holding out her ring finger and looking down at it – Lee looks at Amanda while her head is bowed
Amanda looks up, realising there’s a delay..
Lee digs around some more..[and licks his lips..] as the digging continues- we see Amanda begin to smile 
Love how he goes to make light of finding it, smiles at the priest and the priest is not impressed!
You can just imagine him thinking: “schmuck! come on I have 183 more of these to do today!”
Finally! Lee finds the ring! He turns back to Amanda.. 
they steady themselves for the seriousness of the moment (It’s almost like the giggles over the ring were nervous energy on both their parts!)
I see the guy behind Lee is having a chuckle too! I am so glad Lee wasn’t all smooth – this is very endearing! 
He’s nervous!! [Or as Amanda would say: He’s shy!]
Lee takes Amanda’s hand in preparation for putting on the ring, and looks back to the priest…
Priest: With this ring, I thee wed.
Lee clears his throat [can’t you imagine him saying to himself here: come on man! You can do this!! Why is this so difficult??!! Deep breath! ]
Lee says slowly, seriously: with this ring…. 
…I thee wed. 
His voice seems tight with emotion here.
Amanda is looking down at the ring,
and when she raises her head to meet his eyes – she seems to gasp in surprise at what she sees in his eyes!!!
Ohh swoony!! 
Priest: I now pronounce you man and wife.. [grr should be husband and wife! ]
Wait a minute! 
LOL! Maybe Amanda was surprised that she doesn’t seem to have to tell Lee ‘with this ring I thee wed’!.. it’s funny.. she doesn’t get to give him a ring!! I would have liked to see how he coped with that!! hehehee.. or maybe the priest thought Lee had had as much as he could take. 
So, man and wife.. it cuts back to Lee having just put the ring on Amanda’s finger, and they are looking at each other.. Lee is stunned..as in wow!!!
and Amanda smiles quietly wow!!! If you ask me, Amanda is much less affected by it all than Lee!
Priest: You may now kiss the bride.
Jolted out of his stunned moment by the Priest.. Lee realises there is still more for him to do here!
Can’t you hear Lee telling himself: Snap out of it!! Squeee! The priest gives Lee a little gesture like: go on.. you can do it!! There’s a good groom! [He may even give Lee a groom treat! ]
Love how Amanda’s body language here says – yeah, I can totally do this- I get to enjoy a kiss with Lee (who wouldn’t?) , and I’ve got a job to do! 
Amanda looks determined, and calm. She licks her lips, and steps closer to Lee.
Okay! well.. I’ll finish up there for now!
Don’t worry..just kidding!
Lee lifts Amanda’s veil… 
The look they share once the veil is lifted?? Hooooo haaaaa! I think a veil has been lifted from both their eyes!! Please tell me what you think!! I really want to hear all about it!!
To me here.. Amanda doesn’t look afraid: she looks unsure, but ready! Speaking of ready, so is the priest! He gives another little nod, urging them on!
Wait up there Priest! this is only their second kiss ever!!
Slowly.. they move closer…
So serious!!!
But then.. a lovely moment- smiling at their shyness.. the awkwardness of it, but at the same time, glad that they are being awkward together They are friends with a genuine affection.. I love this little smile they share here!

whoo haaa! I have the movie The Wedding Singer to thank for the perfect description of this kiss: Church Tongue! 
I have studied this far too closely – but my excuse is I’m trying to errr.. choose the best frame to show you!! Too many kissing pics? I didn’t think so….
It looks to me like Amanda starts pulling away first..but Lee doesn’t want to let go.. so they kiss again!

Amanda pulls back again.. while Lee’s still puckering up! She goes in for a third.. but drat.. she’s given him enough of a second to realise what he’s doing and pull back! 
Amanda was up for a third Lee!
Oh well.. we musn’t be greedy.. 
Amanda realises Lee is pulling back: no more.. (Drat!)
To me, Amanda recovers much more quickly than Lee! 
I think she’s enjoying herself err playing her cover.. and taking it all in her stride! This is not the same Amanda who was in a tizz in Weekend when Lee was kissing her hand!
Amanda pulls back from Lee.. he pulled back enough to stop the kisses.. but that’s about as far as he’s gotten!! I think he’s gone aqogahebqgey’ewbaehbbshbsh!!
The priest closes his book – I think to let them know 
they can go now! [though I think it is more symbolic than that.. I think the book is closed on the early chapters of Lee and Amanda’s relationship and with the wedding and that kiss? A new one has just begun!!
]
We see Lee gulping and quietly smiling.. Amanda smiles too.. and sees her lipstick on his lips.. So she reaches out to wipe it off. (Any excuse!)

I love how Lee lets out a huge breath and raises his eyebrows at Amanda- Like phew!! We did it!!!
Amanda takes his arm and helps him back down the aisle again 
I love how Lee turns and smiles at Amanda as she looks straight ahead, ready to leave! He seems to look at her like: She’s Amazing!! Squeeeee!
Well, I will go easy on the wedding dress, I know this was the style of the time.. and .. Amanda probably didn’t have many dresses to chose from by the time she knew she was actually getting married! 😉
It’s interesting that at the beginning of the ceremony, Lee is organising Amanda, taking her arm… then at the end of the ceremony, Amanda is organising Lee, getting off the lippy, reaching for his arm to leave and turning him around so that he gets moving!! 
The music for the kiss is interesting.. close your eyes and listen to the music!! [hard to not watch them kiss I know!] – what story would you say the music is telling?
…for me, when the notes go up as they kiss? it’s as if 
the music is saying: Discovery!!!!! It’s the sound of a sweet revelation.. Something new has started!!! I think the music sums things up perfectly!
So what’s your take on the wedding?? What happened?? I suspect this is going to vary depending on whether or not you think Lee or Amanda are already in love.. maybe?? I’m going to think a little longer on what the implications are – things have changed
.. I think everyone would agree on that 🙂 .. but how?? and to what?? I might hold off till after the tag in sharing my thoughts on that one.. I’m still pondering this!

Oh! My! Gosh! This blog is incredible! I adore SMK! It’s been some time since I watched the series (real life gets in the way, sometimes for years). I was looking on my phone and realized that I had SOS and OMIT in my video library, probably because those are the two episodes where I noted the extraordinary amount of touching. And that kiss! Plus the gobsmacked look on Lee’s face! Lee kissing her fingers as she wipes his lips! Swoon!!!
The chemistry between BB and KJ is unmatched. And I love love love how they can express so much with one look. There’s a 2-part interview with BB and KJ, on the Merv Griffin show, on youtube, just before S3 starts, and that chemistry is on full display. (Somewhat off-topic but someone noted that KJ was wearing the same outfit in that interview as in another episode. LOL! Did she wear Amanda’s wardrobe for her SMK interviews?)
I’m going to have to dig out my DVD set so I can watch the rest of the episodes, starting with the TFT. Anyways … back to lurking. 😉

It’s awesome to rediscover this show when it is super easy to just download episodes nowadays. When I rediscovered it I had to purchase bootleg dvds which were kinda blurry but I was oh so grateful to have them rather than nothing.
Today is a different situation and we are so lucky!
Yes KJ did wear Amanda’s wardrobe to events. I find it seriously weird. Boundaries Kate Boundaries!! lol.
I rembember KJ wore that white gown from the three faces of emily to an award night at the time and had the flower in her hair and everything.

I also found an interview on YouTube, with Joan Rivers, where she wears the white lace top from SAAB. It’s definitely weird. 😉
I’ve been trying to find my DVDs, but haven’t found them yet. In desperation, I went ahead and bought seasons 1-3 from the Apple store. I’m hoping they’ll make season 4 available in Canada at some point (fingers crossed!).

In the case of the outfit Kate is wearing on that interview (Bruce’s suit might be from an ep as well — suits look a lot alike to me so I’m not sure), it could be they came straight from filming or between takes and there wasn’t really time to change. I don’t know if it’s still up, but there was an interview during Charlie’s Angels Kate did that takes place onset and she’s still in costume and tied up from filming the scene! It was fun to find the scene on one of the eps!

I agree with you about the Bible closing the door on their past relationship and begin the new one. They have done the skirting around each other. First kiss she wasn’t expecting so she was able to react. This time she had anticipation. I think that Lee was more afraid what Amanda means to him. She is his comfort and home so he is gonna fight this with all he can.

You mentioned about Amanda not putting a ring on Lee’s finger. My dad was a pastor and he told me once that men didn’t always wear wedding rings so it wasn’t part of the vows in that case.
I liked the dress. I think the tight-fitting bodice flattered her slim figure beautifully. I’m sure one of the gift shops was converted to a bridal shop for this cruise for last-minute items and a few dresses.

The dress is nice, but I’m not liking the veil. It’s probably the style of the 1980s though. I think a smaller veil, no floral band, and her hair up would have looked nice.

Iwsod – I am so glad I found this site. Your commentary of the episodes are great. All the details you notice is amazing. I recently watched the entire series. The last time I saw Scarecrow and Mrs. King was 30 years ago when I was in high school. (Did I just admit that high school was 30 years ago?) As I re-watched the episodes, this is one of the few episodes I remembered. I guess I did not watch the show for its riveting plot lines.
I really liked this episode, but I guess the one thing I questioned was the wedding dress. Since Amanda did not know she might have to get married on this cruise, I am sure she did not pack a wedding dress. The bridal shop was overpriced. Plus I have been on a few cruises and I don’t ever remember seeing a bridal shop. Of course since I wasn’t planning on getting married on any of the cruises, I was not looking for a bridal shop either. But one would think if all these women are on the cruise to get married, they would have already bought their wedding dress and not hoped the tiny shop on the ship would have the perfect dress. Are we supposed to believe the ship carried that much inventory? I know, I am really reading into story. I just wondered where the dress came from. I guess she found time to go back to the shop and purchase one. I wonder what she did with the dress. I don’t think she brought it home. Could you see her explaining to her mother, why she bought a wedding dress as a souvenir? The wedding dress she had on really did not bug me. I think my sister had a similar dress when she got married the summer of 84. (Now the headbands from Season 1 (and I think they appeared in Season 2) are another story.) But I thought the dress she had on at the captain’s ball would have made a nice wedding dress.
I loved the aerial shots of the ship with The Love Boat type music. I kept expecting to see Julie, Gopher and the rest of The Love Boat crew. But then I could not see The Love Boat Crew as baddies. That is my ramble.

LOL! did anyone watch smk for it’s riveting plot lines? ever? actually.. I was about 8 when I saw some smk episodes.. so I thought it was all riveting if I could drool over Lee Stetson.. (and have I outgrown this?? hmm… nope! and why should I?! it’s fun!!! and life’s got to have it’s silliness no?!)
ROFL! yeah.. I figured Lee forked out the $$ for an overpriced wedding dress – since this was Lee’s assignment and not technically an agency assignment, he would have been happy to pay or I figured he could order his ‘boss’ to give him the $ back (rofl!)

I agree with you Jo!!! I always thought that gorgeous white evening dress would have been a fabulous wedding dress (seems Amanda unconsciously packed a wedding dress for this job! tee hee) I’d wear it to my wedding today happily!

I had a new thought..
You are IMHO right about the ridiculousness of all these brides buying their wedding dress on the cruise ship..
but I think the plot required there to be a cruise ship bridal shop – because neither of them thought they would have to go through a ceremony as they got on the ship, neither would have brought with them a wedding dress for the cover (now that’s a whole new spin on Amanda’s dig at Lee in TTTAC where she said she didn’t bring a gown to Europe because no body had told her she was working!)
Sooo there had to be somewhere on the ship for Amanda to source a wedding gown.. even at the last minute.. I figure the cruise bridal shop was open 24 hrs- at the prices they charge it should be 😉
did Amanda take the dress home? what a fun idea!! I laughed at the thought of Dotty seeing it!!
Here’s another question – do you think maybe Lee took it home?! whahahaa.a.
err not for him to wear mind you ha!
but..he could have taken it home telling himself it could be a useful disguise one day haaaa..
but deep down, I’d say the moment was special to him and he doesn’t want to let the dress go! tee hee..

You rock for writing this post! And I don’t think you are over the top in your thorough investigation of the kiss at all!!! Some things are worth closely examining and this is one of them!!! This SOS kissing is sooo much better than the champagne spilling kiss in DOA, IMHO. Maybe you should put your SOS kissing GIF in your DOA post??? You know, purely for investigational purposes???

Apart from the ridiculous overabundance of makeup on Lee (WTF?!), I thought the whole wedding was lovely. I loved Amanda’s dress, with its sweetheart neckline and lace, loved Lee’s tux, loved how shy and nervous they both seemed, and loved Lee’s little “whew!” look after the vows – such a real thing to do! And of course, the kiss …. aaaaahhhh. Squee.Swoon.Thud.

OMG The Princess Bride is my favourite movie, Peter Cook is hilarious as the priest. Bet Amanda never said she was going to kill herself after her wedding 😉

I love the priest, he plays his part so well and brings some levity to a rather charged event. His facial expressions and lengthy eye closes show a man who’s probably had his fill of weddings LOL
I never noticed the sheerness of the top of kissing woman’s dress! Doesn’t leave much to the imagination……
Is it me or do Lee’s trousers look a smidge to short for his legs. Am afraid the white tux isn’t really doing it for me either *blush*
I quite like Amanda’s dress, considering the era it’s quite pretty and she does make a very attractive bride 😉

It’s not so easy to tell but Lee looks like he pulls similar expression like he did after cover kiss in Sudden Death. Amanda looks far more “together” than he does, he has an almost glazed look on his face as though for a split second the world disappears and it’s just him and Amanda.
And that cute little kiss of the fingers, perfect just perfect 😀

I think the dress was OK for that time… it didn’t have the enormous muttonchop sleeves and yards of lace and beads that many did. Sure, it could’ve been simpler, but it could’ve been MUCH worse! LOL!
Amanda did very well at not freaking out–maybe part of it was suspecting/knowing that Lee would freak, given his history, and she’s concentrating on being there for him–yet again–his rock… cool/calm/collected when he needs her. Also–I don’t believe she’d been in love with him here. Definitely a deep friend relationship, but not more. She knew Lee’d been a bimbette-chaser, and I think she chose to put her heart on a shelf until such time as she saw that there might be a change… she’d grown into more of a strong woman and wasn’t going to pine after an unavailable man. I think their fake wedding showed her that there might be cracks in Lee’s armour, though, allowing her to start considering bringing her heart back off the shelf.
As for Lee–I think his hesitation was a bunch of things… his childhood, the fact that he knew how seriously Amanda felt about marriage, and the fact that he hadn’t shared with her the possible key to the marriage being null (false name, etc)–which I also don’t think he was 100% certain of working. I think that after this he respected Amanda more for the way she acted so professionally… and I think that he was shaken by how much her kiss affected him–the (former?) ladies man who was used to seducing women, actually felt this magnetism from Amanda… an Arlington housewife. LOL.

Re-watched this tonight. There is just something there when Lee says, “with this ring, I thee wed.” A bell goes off in the sound track. It feels like it is real. And then later after the ceremony he says, “At least your wedding ring is real.” I know it isn’t their “real” wedding, but its like the producers wanted to make a point that they were wedded to each other from that point on. So I am watching the bond, commitment, covenant between them now. Maybe vows between these two who really care for each other are more real than they know…

I have no idea if I wrote it anywhere.. and I didn’t think they were now ‘in love’ for ever and ever or anything – but I did feel that deep down an unbreakable commitment to each other – was enscribed in the character’s hearts with that ceremony – Lee does say ‘with this ring, I thee wed’ with such finality and gravitas ( and let’s not forget: sexiness!) that he convinced me his heart was forever changed by those words of commitment, and that moment.. and the look of shock on Amanda’s face in response to this led me to believe she started to wonder also!!!

Ahhh yes…..this kiss. Or should I say kisses cuz there’s more than 1! Lee is a cooked goose at this point for sure, he just doesn’t know it! It is very clear that he is way more affected than Amanda at this whole wedding/kissing thing. The only thing missing is the thought bubble above his head with the fireworks going off. Of course he goes right back into denial as soon as he gets back in Scarecrow mode.
I don’t think they’re in love at this point. I agree with the person who made “the awakening of Lee” comment. This is a key moment in their relationship. I think Amanda is in a part fantasy/part reality mode still. She knows she has feeling for him, but I don’t think she knows yet what those are or what she wants them to be. I think at this point she wouldn’t admit to it anyway for fear of making a fool of herself?? I think she believes Lee cares for her a great deal, but she knows he’s still a womanizer and therefore doesn’t see a real future for the two of them together. Although when you’re talking about love you’ve got to be patient….hmmmm, where have we heard that before? So maybe she’s just the most patient person on the planet?
Gosh, I love this episode….except that dad-gum eye makeup BB has to wear the entire episode!

This is the best cover kiss ever, you really can feel that there is something more going on between A&L. It’s sweet how she wipes away her lipstik and he kisses her fingertips, sooo sweeet!

* I cut Lee a little more slack here about not telling Amanda. I think he wasn’t 100% sure that falsifying his documents would make the marriage invalid. He was pretty sure it would work, but not completely. 🙂 Good thing she didn’t correct the priest at the mispronounciation of ‘Stetson.’
*Could his voice get any deeper during his “I do”?
*And Amanda’s dress was actually pretty tame. This was a few years after Princess Diana’s wedding and the sleeves of most wedding dresses were HUGE!
*I was surprised they mixed the ivory (Lee’s jacket) with the pure white (Amanda’s dress). My dress was ivory and I drove my husband nuts to make sure his tux shirt was ivory and not white because it would make my dress look dingy. 🙂
And watching this on clear DVD made it very clear how affected Lee was by the kiss. Amanda was definitely more calm. It changed how I viewed the tag (for the better).

Yeah I figured there would probably be a few smk fans who had wedding dresses similar to Amanda’s.. it’s amazing how fashions change isn’t it.. ( for eg. that snazzy ruffled shirt Miles wears with his tux! rofl!!)
Agreed! Lee is much more affected than Amanda- but Jeanine, I would say it isn’t just about kissing Amanda – I saw Lee as being very affected even before he had to kiss her.. He seemed to go into a trance when he said ‘with this ring I thee wed’ and put the ring on her finger.. he just stared at her!!!!! he then snaps out of it, so he can finish up the ceremony – then kisses Amanda and again- pow! He’s in the Lee trance again! 😉

Yes I agree, Lee isn’t sure if the wedding is legal or not.. and he may or may not have had time to tell Amanda of his attempt to prevent the wedding from being ‘legal’ – to me.. it’s not very clearly explained in the episode.. but then.. there is more coming up in the tag about that – whooo looking forward to hearing what your thinking on the tag was and now is Cindy! 🙂

That’s an interesting observation about Lee’s jacket being ivory Cindy.. I hadn’t realised that was an issue! I confess I prefer the black jacket tux.. ( Times they are a changin is Lee’s ‘Tuxedo Pinnacle’ for me!)

Also, I was wondering what was up with his jacket sleeves? when he finds the ring, and looks up to the priest in the wider shot, ready to put the ring on Amanda’s finger? You can see his sleeves are waay too long! Then, in the widershot after the kiss, where Amanda wipes the lipstick off Lee’s mouth- you can see his jacket sleeves are all bunched up at the elbows-so they are the right length?? Kinda weird! .. but well that only crossed my mind for a second.. and then I just got swept up in enjoying Lee’s awakening!!! Lovin hearing from you all!!!!!!!!! byeee!

I agree that he is definitely feeling something deeper for her here. I think the dynamic between them is changing. 🙂 I love this season because lots of eye opening moments for them, then season 3 is the season of openly flirting. 😉 Leading to season 4… sigh.

One of my favorite episodes of the entire series, and of course it’s because of the fantastic cover kiss. 🙂
Okay, here is my take on the wedding.
I think Lee looks nervous, and at times, terrified, because this is something he’s NEVER had to do. He’s played a lot of covers, performed a decent number of cover kisses, but he has never had to pretend being married. He’s not able to relax into it by reminding himself it’s not real because the idea of actually being married for real is something so foreign to his own lifestyle.
Another big factor here, also, is Amanda. If he had been having to do this with another agent, or even Francine (ick!), I think he would have come across more removed and smoother. He’s not feeling love for Amanda (maybe just on the edge of loving her as a friend, but not quite there yet), but he cannot deny that they’ve had moments of sparks. There have been too many intimate looks and touches (followed by silence, followed by acknowledgement of the awkwardness) to not have Lee feeling nervous about the heaviness of this cover. He knows they will get out of it. I knows that Amanda knows he will make everything okay in the end. However, having to pretend to get married is quite a huge undertaking when two people have an undercurrent of attraction, no matter how much they both deny it. And, I’m sure Lee denies it more than Amanda does when those thoughts pop into his gorgeous head.
He is taken aback by the intensity of the kiss because they’ve grown closer since their first cover kiss, almost a year earlier. He was shocked a little then. I think he had eventually talked himself out of the acknowledgement of shock he felt during that first cover kiss and the reasons as to possibly why he reacted as he did. So, when this kiss happens he thinks he won’t be affected again. But the moment his lips hit Amanda’s, he realizes that “thing”, whatever it may be, hasn’t gone away. I LOVE how he is still puckered up when Amanda pulls away.
Iwsod, you can NEVER put too many pics of this scene up. 🙂 I like how you pointed out the symbolism of the priest closing the bible. The start of a new chapter. I think that’s completely true. Even if they don’t discuss it, something has definitely changed. One of the things I love most about SMK is how long they draw out the coming together of Lee and Amanda. We get to see the progression of their relationship almost in real time. We get to know them as well as they get to know eachother.
Wow, that got really long. I’m afraid I may have said the same thing over and over. If I did, I apologize. Can’t wait for the next post!

What can top Lee in a tux!! Why Lee in a white tux of course!! He looks dashing! I love how you can really see his eyes – “beautiful eyes”.
Amanda looks stunning in her dress which is a classic style – princess cut Cornelli lace fitted bodice and lightly puffed sleeves with Cornelli lace cut outs, full skirt with train and lace border. Notice the beadwork on the lace. The veil is a chapel length tulle veil with lace border and puff and white silk flowers on the headpiece. Yea okay so it was sort of inspired by the Flashdance headbands of the 80s, but don’t shoot the messenger. But hey I was married in ’89 and my veil was similar.
Amanda is calm and cool this whole time, while it’s Lee that is struggling especially after the kiss. And I think it was really rude of Lee to not let Amanda in on the fake name on the marriage license!!! ARGGGHHH! Oh sorry getting ahead of the posts. Anyways, Lee is greatly affected by the wedding kiss with Amanda, but he has always been affected whenever they get close and then tries to cover it up – “Sudden Death” cover kiss, “Filming Raul” holding her in the car, “Double Agent” the belt, and “Weekend” but not as much as Amanda was.
Amanda trusts Lee. She knows that this is just business, but I think at this point she goes along with the wedding because she has feelings for Lee. Lee is just beginning to see what an amazing woman Amanda is and I think with that kiss he seals his fate!

Wow Jeannine, you really know your fashion! It is an exquisite and delicate dress. Regarding wedding dresses in that period, I got married in ’89 and had a terrible time finding anything that wasn’t full on princess style. It took dedication and determination 😉 but I found an elegant slim-fitting all lace one. Had unfortunate mutton shoulders on the sleeves but can’t win em all. (The thought of cutting off the sleeves and going bare armed was just not on my radar then. Sophisticated I was not!) I remember seeing Amanda’s dress when it first aired and thinking she looked lovely but it didn’t seem to be the characters style. Oh but who cares, that kiss, those looks, the silent communication!!! Oh swoon thud!!!!!! And you are right, that kiss did seal Lee’s fate. Sigh Swoon thud!! Amsjdhfbgjruirekdmmj!!!!

I’m sorry I’ve been soooo absent. I have been reading the posts and some of the comments but I’ve been so busy, I haven’t been able to participate as I would like. 😦 I didn’t even get to watch the last couple of episodes while they were being discussed. 😦 But…..I did just watch the first half of Ship of Spies. Y’all forced me to!)
Okay, so here goes on my perception of how this scene went down. I’m usually way off base, but what evs. I think Lee’s grimace is because he has never thought of himself as a “husband”. This wedding (and the kiss!) affected Lee much more than it did Amanda. Apparently, Lee didn’t remember the first kiss. It affected him the same way this one does. He should have been prepared! Maybe he was too busy trying to find 24C.
Amanda, on the other hand, seemed to take it in stride while Lee stumbled along. I always thought Amanda was cool as a cucumber because 1. she’s done this before; and 2. she can go along because she has faith that Lee will fix it later.

Swoon…been waiting for this part of this episode…thanks for the many shots leading up, during and kind of “after the kiss”. When I first saw this episode, I thought how could they “top this”. They were a couple…okay…so the writers would not agree but eh! something sparked…oh! yeah! Okay, now I am off to watch this episode….you notice so much…I did not pick up on the ship person behind Lee. On the other hand, I was to “wrapped up in the kiss”. Thanks, Conny

I always thought that Lee was uncomfortable during Amanda’s vows beacause she was making them for real because she didn’t know it wasn’t going to be real, and he knew they weren’t for real. Hense his grimmace during her vow. He “knew how strongly she felt about marriage.”
