That night at the hospital, Neumann decides to stop by with flowers.. [what a thoughtful baddie 😉 ]
Neumann: Excuse me….I wonder if I could see a Lee Stetson? 
[Hey what’s with the crazy clock that has an upside down 2 instead of a 7?!]
Doctor 1: Erm no. I don’t think we have anyone by that name.
Well done doc! She’s certainly suspicious..
Neumann: You sure? I’m positive they said, uh, Parker General. Could you check please?
Doctor 1: Maybe Administration has something.
The doctor goes to make a call and check.
The camera cuts to across the way, where we see Duffy guarding Lee’s door. Oh hooray! they do sorta have someone guarding Lee! [though it does kinda telegraph that this is Lee’s room everyone!!! he’s got a guard!!!]
Neumann: Um never mind, it’s okay thank you.
Neumann plays it cool and walks off past Duffy.
Then he pauses, and pulls a gun out of the flowers. Uh oh… He was packing flowers and heat!
He puts the gun in his waist band.
Neumann drops the flowers and exits out to the waiting room,
we see Amanda looking toward Lee’s room anxiously waiting for news.
Poor Amanda.
Could the baddie identify Amanda? and would Amanda have recognised him as the man who attacked Lee in the garage? She was never asked if she could identify them.. Hmm..
The next day, and a new scene opens with a fuzzy view of the ceiling..
Then, we see Lee is waking –hooray! 
He tries to sit up and look about the room some more
Lee sees some hospital art hanging on the wall..
And looks horrified…
ha haaaa.. it is usually pretty awful. but hey – at least you are starting to be able to see! 
He looks down, across the room to a sofa, where Amanda is sound asleep. 
Lee seems to almost half mumble, half breath her name. 
Lee: Amanda…..
As he settles back down to the bed..
At that moment, we see Duffy let Billy in.. Billy checks Amanda and sees she is still sleeping.
I see a sweet little smile here.. awh..
it’s these little things that say so much isn’t it? he’s thrilled that Lee and Amanda have truly found each other 
He moves closer to Lee.
Billy: Well, well, look at you, Scarecrow. You sure look better than you did last night. [and no dumb head bandage!]
Lee: If this is the hangover, don’t tell me what party was like, OK?.. 
We see Lee’s point of view – looking at Amanda.
…What’s Amanda’s doing here?
[Oi! you be grateful! 
]
Billy: You do have some memory loss; they said to expect that. She saved your butt…
[We see Lee starting to mess with his eyes as Billy continues]
…I knew better than to try to send her home. From what she says, you were really outnumbered.
[I guess Lee doesn’t remember Amanda picking him up at all huh.. and LOL about the ‘really outnumbered’ heck.. it was 2 against one haaaaa.. did Amanda exaggerate to talk it up a bit?! tee hee.. ]
Lee (still quite groggy): Yeah, it’s the Germans. Neumann.
Billy: Why would Kurt Neumann and his watchdog jump you at Dulles? Sketch me in with the background, Scarecrow. What’s he want?
Lee: The lenses!
[Lee rubs his eyes some more and now begins to become distressed]
Billy: What lenses?
Lee: The lenses! Where are they? Where are they? Where are they?
Lee gets rather loud and tries to get up.. Amanda wakes.
Amanda: Oh Lee, you’re awake.
She immediately without hesitate goes over to sit on his bed and takes his hand – and Billy Shmilly? who cares!
Lee: Oh. Amanda, did I give them to you?
Amanda: You didn’t even have a camera with you….
[So naturally, Amanda takes Lee’s hand in both of hers]
Lee: No no no no… contact lenses.
Can someone put up Lee’s hospital bed? this is ridiculous!
Amanda: No….contacts?
Lee: I know I am a little foggy but am sure Neumann didn’t get them; he didn’t have a chance. They were still in my eyes when I blacked out.
Billy: Contact lenses?..
…Since when did you develop an eye problem?
Lee: No…..I gotta go.
Lee tries to get up but Amanda blocks him easily.
Amanda: No, you’ve gotta stay in bed. C’mon.
Lee: Billy says you saved my skin huh? [Actually, Billy said she saved your Butt.. lol! ]
Amanda checks Lee’s arm wound.
Amanda: No….uh…..no. [lol Amanda kinda mumbles and Billy quietly smiles at her ]
Lee: And I didn’t say anything to you about contact lenses?
Amanda: No. You said contact Billy.
Lee pauses and looks down at his hospital wrist band – like it’s a watch. I wonder if he thinks it’s a watch? He is kinda out of it.. or I guess that’s where his watch would usually be.. but the way he turns the band it made me wonder if he thought it was a watch that wasn’t working or something..
Lee: Damn, we’re losing time, we’re losing time, how long has it been….how long have I been here?
[Lee’s getting more agitated.. Oh my I never thought I’d see the day: Lee Stetson actually has bed hair!]
Billy: Shhhhhhhhh… 15 hours.
[LOL Amanda puts her hands on his chest to push him back down.. and she doesn’t seem to want to remove them ]
Lee: 15 hours?
Billy: What’s this all about?
Lee: It’s the Barnstorm list. They were encoded on the lenses.
Amanda: What is Barnstorm?
Lee: It’s a string of non pros; civilian eyes and ears that I gathered over the last 10 years. Billy, one of the family double crossed us and sold the list to an East German by the name of Moss. Now, he either got remorse or religion or something but he killed himself.
[Wait a minute. Moss? Moss was the guy he was searching.. Moss didn’t kill himself. It was Spaulding who Lee said ‘told me just before he died’? Umm.. let’s put this down to Lee still being woozy?!
Why would one of the ‘family’ have this list? Isn’t it Lee’s list? and is family agency? or the people on the list? help?]
Billy: Was it the complete list?
Lee: I don’t know. You gotta get the lenses together and put them under a comparative microscope to find out. Wait a minute. Who looked in my eyes when they checked me in here?
[Who were the lucky devils?!]
Amanda: Oh I don’t know, a lot of people, the doctors and nurses….
[Lee tries to get up again. lol at least put the bedhead up.. man!]
Lee: Well then we’ve got to get a list of all the possibilities; we’ve got to cover our bases……
Billy: What are you doing?
Lee: Moss got them as far at Saint Marie, Billy…
…If Neumann got them back I gotta go after him; he’ll wipe out the whole family..
[‘He’ll wipe out the whole family’ sounds like it was added in later.. lol they needed to add a line about the family being in danger huh.. okay!
Okay so this week the family isn’t agency? It’s the people on the barnstorm list? have I understood this correctly? Aie!]
Billy (gently): I know, I know, I know. Scarecrow, just let us handle this. I’ll have a team trace your route until we find them…
We cut to the wide shot.. lol Amanda now has hold of his right hand across the bed? she may even still have hold of his left!
Yep she does!
…You just stay in the bed… 
…You wouldn’t be any good to anybody if you just killed yourself.
Phew.. at least Billy is able to support Lee in getting this list back!
Lee seems to fall back to sleep here.. while Amanda strokes his shoulder, and Billy heads off to start trying to recover the list.
This list – if it is so dangerous and important. Why didn’t Lee destroy it when he got it back off Moss in St. Marie? Surely he has his own copy of the list somewhere? lol.. I mean why take the risk of trying to get it out of the country and all that?
Ohhhh I see.. if he had done that we wouldn’t have an episode?! well then.. I’ll just have to go with it! Glad to see so much touching from Amanda it’s quite excessive – lol and completely lovely to watch
Okay that’s all for the moment and I look forward to hearing what you all think!!!
"Just walk with me.." 
I think it says a lot about the status of their relationship that she sits on his bed. That’s a really personal space in a hospital where the patient can rest and recover. Amanda freely sits on his bed, without hesitation, and he doesn’t protest. Then she holds his hands and strokes him. It’s very intimate and nurturing.

I am ROFL at the hospital art comment. It is pretty horrific!
Just to clarify when Lee is talking about the person who found religion he’s talking about the man who sold the list to Moss. It’s a clunky line to be sure.
There is one line that made me cringe. Billy asking Lee when did he develop an eye problem……c’mon man use your noodle! These are no ordinary contact lenses. I would have thought it was obvious given Lee has just been assaulted for them……
Amanda’s care for Lee is so instinctive and touching. She just can’t keep her hands off him and who can blame her 😉 I adore Billy’s little smile to himself when he sees her on the sofa. Having to restrain Lee is a dirty job but someone has to do it 😉

I do like the fact that Amanda stayed with Lee, not wanting to leave his side. Looking forward to some swoon worthy scenes ahead.

Ugh – I don’t see why Lee would even write down his list of the family. Mistake number 1. And how would one of the family even know who else was on the list? I get that they would know a few people to pass information on to, but the whole list? This seems a bit farfetched. I agree – why didn’t Lee just destroy the lenses. I guess he wanted to see what was on it once they were back in DC?
And this may be an unpopular opinion, but Amanda’s touching here of Lee really is a bit over the top. I know Billy acts like he doesn’t notice, and Amanda seems to not care if Billy notices, or maybe she doesn’t realize she is just touching him non-stop.

Maybe Amanda’s touching is more subconscious than she realizes. It’s like her reaching for Lee’s hand in the elevator in Triumvirate. She is also in mothering mode. At this point she and Lee must have moved from seeing each other on an irregular basis to a pretty much daily basis or have been in touch daily. Amanda almost is at the point of wringing her hands in her opening scene. Otherwise why would she even bother to ask Francine about Lee. She tries to be nonchalant about it, but is still obvious. She hasn’t seen or talked to Lee in three days and when she finally does there’s immediate danger or threat to his well being. Maybe her touching is just a way to comfort herself that he’s actually still here and that he’ll be okay. She is making a decision to let his man into her life more fully and it would be tragic to have that taken away from her at this point. Hope most of that made some sense.

I do think there is some subconscious touching here by Amanda, but there just seems to be too much. I’m fine with it except for right after Lee checks his watch. She’s touching his hand but not holding it. It just seems weird to me. I understand handholding or rubbing his arm or checking his bandage, but that bit just seems too OTT. I know it’s nit-picky. And I don’t see her taking Lee’s hand in the elevator during the Triumvirate as subconscious. I think she was very much aware that she was looking for comfort from him and took his hand because she was so scared. I know I’m in the minority on that hand hold as well, but that’s okay, it’s just how I see it.

Based on Amanda’s comment in Affair at Bromfield Hall at the famous bridge scene, we at least know without a doubt that she loves Lee. 😉

The touching that really bothers me in this scene is something that Iwsod was genteel enough not to screencap. As she sits down on the bed, Amanda (KJ) wipes her nose, then she grabs Lee’s hand. It always takes me a moment to embrace the mood after that!!

Haha yeah the nose wipe. I think she might have been crying a little here with relief that Lee is going to make it and be ok. I have always viewed amanda as an emotionally tough person, even though she doesn’t look it, and I just think the stress of seeing Lee injured (has she ever seen him on the receiving end of that much violence? I don’t think so but someone can correct me if I am wrong ), then not knowing if he will be ok because I imagine n one at the hospital will talk to her.
I also think AL the fussing and touching wasn’t conscious, I mean she has just been riding an emotional roller coaster, to its understandable why her professionalism might wane and her true feelings bleed through.

That flower arrangement looks identical (colours, flower typesto the one my parents gave me after I had surgery when I was 10 (maybe because that was a couple of years before the episode aired). What I’m trying to say is that it’s not exactly an appropriate (or believable) arrangement for a male patient in his 30s.
For me what strikes me the most about this scene is how Amanda leans across the bed and holds that hand. He’s in a very vulnerable situation, and (IMHO) an incredibly intimate gesture.

Yes holding the other hand is a little Over the top – extremely intimate.. I can see why BJo would find it a bit much..
I’m okay with it – as it’s just a couple of seconds and only in front of Billy -but Amanda’s going to need to get smart if she’s going to have all these really strong emotions about Lee and not tell the whole world about it.
Hmmm.. she may need some time to work on that 😉 I can see it would take some getting use to.
A relationship with Lee is not going to be like any relationship she has had before!

Not much to add here. I agree with most of your thoughts as usual. Really like that she doesn’t hesitate to check his bandage, hold his hand, etc. while Billy is there. I think Amanda sat there partly because she knew he’d keep trying to get up. Lifting the hospital bed would have helped, yes, but Amanda would have to lay on him to stop him from getting up. 😉

This is another one of my favorite episodes. I love that Amanda would not leave the hospital while Lee was laying in that bed, recovering! I love that she was the first person he saw when he woke up and all of the touching between them, as she sits on the bed with him… but I gotta say that I was cracking up at you (iwsod) for pointing out that they never lifted the bed up!! I just watched this episode last week, in prep for the walk-through… and I was saying the same thing. I’ve seen this episode a couple times before and it never stood out to me but this time, it was so much more obvious. Your comments had me cracking up!!! 😆 😆

I’m going to nitpick here briefly with the fact that Amanda tries to deflect that she saved Lee’s butt/skin. When Lee mentions it she sort of pooh-poohs the notion. I know that she can have a hard time taking a compliment, but she did a great job here. She wanted a compliment in The Magic Bus and got none. Here she gets one and just sort of passes over it. I know that she is probably still distraught over what happened and I guess I could say that she probably feels that Lee has saved her so many times that she was just repaying the favor, but she has saved him an awful lot too. Okay, nitpick over.
As far as the list is concerned, Lee did mention that they were civilians and non pros. So they may have a connection to the Agency like the way Amanda once did. She’s sort of in training now, but they wouldn’t give her any in the beginning. I will refrain from mentioning anything from future episodes, but I think the list comes up again. But Billy seems to know what it is as he doesn’t ask about Barnstorm. He asks if it’s the complete list so he knows something about it and may know who’s on it. Lee talks about the encoding and how to read it as if that was his actual list. Maybe Spaulding stole it from where it was kept and Lee was trying to return it. If it was the only list, destroying would not have been an option.

very interesting Valerie! So glad you raised this. I didn’t mind her deflecting the compliment so much – but I know it would have bugged me in season 2 haaaa.. why?
Maybe it’s because now Lee has accepted her as his partner at work, he is more regularly showing his appreciation and complimenting her work.. so I don’t mind it so much.. It is a bit frustrating when she has worked so hard.. for her to try and downplay it. I guess this is part of Amanda’s nature- she prefers to be humble about it – when she is certain Lee appreciates her 🙂 or unless she’s mad 😉 whahahaha… like in Magic Bus?

Yes I agree Valerie, Amanda was still distraught over what had happened and Lee’s close call – her role in saving him was probably the furthest thing from her mind!

Yes Amanda at this point has had that agency training – you know, where you can be out all night long and in the same clothes for a week but still look tip top and ready for anything 😉 Lee topped that class! 🙂

I love this scene. I love the way Lee firsts focuses on Amanda. It reminds me of the part of their conversation in Triumvirate where he says the job has cost him a lot of relationships too and then says “parts I like a lot” while intently looking at her. Here she is, he hasn’t lost her yet and he sees it. He must be pretty groggy still though because we don’t see much of a reaction, just him mumbling her name and then falling back to the pillow.
I love the way Amanda runs to him only half awake and immediately their hands are clasped again. And again I can’y tell whose got whose hand, its such a mutual and unconscious thing and its happening right there in front of Billy.
And I see a struggle working on Lee. He is jumping to get to the task at hand, protecting the people whom he has asked to trust. And Billy is asking him to trust and Amanda is trying to enforce it. And I see Lee yielding because he has to and because he has no strength to do otherwise, but it is going to eat at him. He has always just done things on his own. Watching Billy tell him to stay in the bed and Amanda forcing him down is interesting and even difficult to watch. But I do like the way Lee is letting himself find some sort of comfort and rest in Amanda. And I love the way Billy observes and doesn’t react. He is a wise mas and superior. Its a neat little glimpse into the changes that have truly occurred between Lee and Amanda even though neither of them have had a really talk with the other about where they are personally.

I, too, like that Billy is observing their hand-holding and Amanda’s obvious concern for Lee. Do you think Billy is “looking the other way” (so to speak) because this is a crisis situation, so no wonder they are so so touchy-feely? Like “give them some slack – they both just experienced trauma together”

Plot holes, smlot holes. 🙂 Lee should have destroyed the lenses, maybe he thought that he could figure out who sold Barnstorm out by determining which name was NOT on the list. A person wouldn’t want to sign his/her own death warrant by writing his/her name on it.
When I first saw this part and Lee’s vision is mucked up around the edges, I thought he had the lenses still in.
Yes, I did snicker when Amanda said “You’ve gotta stay in bed. C’mon!”

I was listening to a Rex Stout audio book the other day, and the detective Nero Wolfe is a stickler about word usage. He gave his assistant a lecture about how the word “contact” should be used only as a noun, not a verb. In other words you don’t “contact a person”, you “establish contact with a person.”
This isn’t how most people actually speak, but his little rant made me think of Lee, trying to explain about the contact lens while he has a head injury. It wasn’t “Contact (verb) Billy!”, it’s “Contact (noun), Billy!” Poor Lee!

I see Amanda is a restless sleeper – first her hand is splayed on the pillow and the magazine is resting on the couch. Nek minute (Kiwi’s will understand that reference), her hand is closed and she is clutching the magazine to her body… then… nek minute her hand is splayed on the pillow again. In the context of SMK continuity errors, this one is miniscule, but I felt compelled to point it out. 😀
Maybe the band on his wrist has the admitting day and time on it, which clues him in to how long he has been bed bound.
Amanda certainly is taking every opportunity to lay her hands on the goods, huh? 😉 Checking the bandage? Hmmm, what a shame she didn’t literally “save his butt”, she would’ve had to check that too! 😀
