3/5 Season Four:Episode Twenty Two–The Khruschev List –Scarecrow and Mrs King

Back to the hunt for Harry!

Billy is exiting the hunting lodge, followed by Francine and Lee.
Billy has secured 12 hours to exclusively search for Harry, then Jenkins will be all over it.. sooooo the clock is ticking! Just like SMK loves to set things up!!!
Lee: All right, Francine and I will check out the cabin one more time, then pay a visit to T.P.
[I’m not remembering Francine ever meeting TP Lee use to keep him very separate, and it was special he brought Amanda into things when he would meet TP. So this all feels kinda weird to me?! Anyone?]
Billy: Amanda and I will get breakdowns of any agency that will be tracking our investigation. Remember, keep your eyes open.
[Amanda.. hmm that name rings a bell… Hmmm.. ]
Billy heads off. To join Amanda!!! [You remember her!!! The one who apparently was dropping information for TP at a drop point.]

Back inside Lee and Francine search… ahh so the random atomiser did mean something..
Lee: Harry left this atomiser as a signal that he left a message right?
(Lee is putting the painting on the table, face down. He’s holding the brass object from above the fireplace when they encountered the CIA agent earlier.)
Lee: I didn’t want to say anything to Billy because he has to report everything to the CIS. Look at this.
(Lee sprays liquid from the atomiser on the back of the painting.)
Francine: A secret message on the back of a painting. I mean isn’t that something you’d expect from a Boy Scout, not the founder of the Agency?
Lee: Well that’s Harry. He never did trust modern technology.
Francine: Look at this. “Too many ears. Will have to contact you later.” …Now what?
Lee: We don’t have any choice. We gotta stop him from getting to that strong box. Come on.
They exit the room, leaving the painting with its message on the table.
[for someone else to find rofl.

Rofl is it just me or is the message ‘Too many ears. Will have to contact you later’ a total let down? haaaaa rofl. Laters!!! after all that?!! haaaaa… that’s so funny!!!

No wonder Lee and Francine look kind of dumbfounded haaaa.]

External view of IFF. Inside the bathroom. Billy is turning on all the taps at the basins. Billy is visible in the mirror. Lee enters the bathroom.
Lee: What the hell’s going on. Why’d you wanna meet here?
Billy: Privacy. Our crew checked and found a bug on your line. It was one of ours. State of the art. US government issue. We don’t know who’s listening on this thing or when or where.
Lee: Which means I’ll have to work this one alone. Whoever’s on that list will be following my every move.
Billy: We can’t even go to the CIS director. He may be dirty. All right. You report only to me. I’ll supervise an electronic sweep of my office and my phone line. Sorry to leave you out in the cold like this, Scarecrow.
Lee: Harry’s worth it.
Billy: Remember, if you’re followed, there’s very little you can do. Just make sure you get to Harry, first.

[Okay, I had to watch this scene a few times.. I was sooo distracted by what was going on with the way Lee looks!
Because he’s lovely sure.. but that’s always a struggle. Nooooo it’s because – he suddenly looks different! A haircut maybe? Oh I don’t know!!]

Next, we see a view of the outside of IFF through binoculars, where the corvette is watched exiting the groovy parking garage.
In a dark red sedan, Quisguard taps a number into a car phone as he watches the Corvette drive down the road.
Quisguard: Your information was correct. Stetson is alone. He’s leaving the Agency now.
[yes all that talk of Francine meeting TP was rubbish lol!]
Singer: Make sure you don’t crowd Stetson. He’s good and could eliminate you in a second.
[whoooooo he’s good!]
Quisguard: Don’t worry. I was trained by the CIS.
Singer: I prefer to worry. Stetson was trained by Thornton.
[Whoooooo Thornton is that good!!!]
Quisguard, in the dark red sedan, drives off.

We are treated to a nice reflection of the camera crew in his car reflection as he drives off haaaa.. Plus it’s pretty funny to see behind the car there it was all built up, when IFF is on a suburban looking street and he was parked watching IFF. haaaa.  Anyway moving on!

Ducks swimming in a body of water. Pans out to the Washington Memorial in the background.

The corvette is parked at a park, in the distance we can see Lee sitting on a seat, and TP is feeding the birds around them.

If it’s not TP eating, the birds are. lol.
Quisguard is videoing from a distance. Oh rofl.
I’m sure no one noticed this:

Yep, very discreet haaaaa.
TP feeds the ducks..

T.P.: (To ducks) There you go, that’s from your Uncle Lee. Yeah. Come on, fellows, right over here. Come on, there’s enough for everyone. (To Lee) Word is you’re a bit tepid. (To ducks) No, I meant that for…I meant that for him. Now you let him have that. (To Lee) You know, a little musical interlude would be a pleasant distraction for any eavesdroppers. [TP turns up the music]
Lee: Have you been able to locate any of Harry’s old family?
T.P. Eh, I tell you, they’re either expired or they’re playing shuffleboard down in Florida. Yeah, that’s it. But, you know, I – I did manage to dig up the name of a fellow in town who used to freelance for Harry. An old boxer named Meatball Bonfelli.
Lee: Meatball. Is he still around? I haven’t seen him for years. You know he’d be our best bet. Harry always had absolute trust in him. Last I heard he was staying at the Tidal Basin Hotel.
Harry: Well, at this time of day, you could probably find him over at the gym on, um, Main Street. He’s in training down there.
[How the heck does TP know this? rofl.]
Lee: What about Christina Golitsyn?
[TP is having fun feeding the ducks]
T.P.: I have been saving the best until last. Now I dug up a gem of a rumour that says that the premier’s list was kept under one of the government buildings that were used to house Khrushchev’s entourage.
[Isn’t it cool when a rumour TP hears is exactly what Lee needs to know to be able to move forward and couldn’t have known any other way?! That really is a gem of a rumour! Haaaa]
Lee: It shouldn’t be too hard to get a list of those government buildings used, should it.
T.P.: Well, keep in mind that Khrushchev’s people were moved frequently. Security precautions. That list could be as long as your arm. That’s it, no more. T.P.’s lunch.
He takes out a sandwich in a ziplock bag. And a book titled “BIRDS” in orange, with pictures of birds on the front.

We move to a wider shot, and back to Quisguard recording the scene. Quisguard stops recording, and we see him watching what he recorded on a tiny screen in his car.
Quisguard (to himself): Thanks for the music. It takes the tedium out of lip reading, Mr Stetson.
Ohhhh so he videoed them from a distance in such good quality, he can now lipread what Lee is saying on that tiny little screen?! oh WAAAHHHHAA..
He’s good!!! Maybe that CIS training ain’t bad haaaaaa..
Quisquard taps a number into his phone.
Quisguard: This is Assistant Undersecretary Quisquard. Connect me with Counsel Singer please.
[I think he should be an under under secretary. more fun.. ]

The scene ends there.

Moving on to the gym… Lee’s looking for Meatball..
Lee approaches a guy using the punching bags to ask if he’s seen Meatball Bonfelli, the guy looks up as two other men descend some stairs. One is Meatball who shakes his head at him): No. I wish I could help you but I haven’t seen him in days.
Lee spots Meatball.
Lee: Hey, Meatball. I wanna talk to you.
Man: Hey.
He pulls at Lee’s jacket to stop him.
[rofl in the capture above it looks like Lee is square dancing!]
Man: If he doesn’t wanna talk to you, you don’t get to talk to him.
Lee: Heh. Just back off, pal, huh?
(Man pushes Lee. Lee punches back and floors him. The two men in the ring jump out of the ring and join him. Lee walks towards Meatball.)
Lee: Hey, Meatball.
As he says this, he is surrounded by nine men.
Lee: Oh, great.

Oh dear Lee. You could have just followed the guy… but hey this is more fun haaaaa.
Lee: Hey, come on, Meatball. I came to talk to you about Harry. He’s in big trouble.
(Meatball pauses, and decides to approach Lee and get him out of this pickle)
Meatball: Hey, it’s OK, guys. Give us some room. Looking good,.. …Lee. Good to see you.
Lee: Hey
Meatball: Sorry about my friends here. They’re a shy and sensitive bunch, though. Thanks, guys. Thanks. So, uh.

The crowd disperses, and Lee and Meatball have a chat..
Lee: Meatball, I’ve gotta speak to Harry. Every agency in this town knows about him getting Christina out of Russia and that he’s trying to get a list of their American operatives.
Meatball: Lee, I can appreciate where you’re coming from but I haven’t seen Harry since the last Hagler fight. I give you my word as a professional athlete.
[rofl. My word as a professional athlete? haaaaa does that mean something? cool cool. I give my word as an smk blogger! ]
Lee: I guess that’s why you don’t wanna be seen, right?
Meatball: A stranger around here is either a bill collector, a tax man or somebody’s irate husband.
Lee: Meatball, you’re stonewalling me. You and I both know why. You just get to Harry and tell him the box the list is in is rigged to explode.
Meatball: Hey, like I said, he’s been a ghost around here for like six months.
Lee: There’s a good chance that I’m being followed. You know that? You are the only one who can get to Harry. Now do it.

As the scene closes, we see Quisguard, on the balcony above the gym, watching.
