4/5 Season Four:Episode Twenty Two–The Khruschev List –Scarecrow and Mrs King

Back to IFF..
We find there is a map on an easel in the Q bureau, and Amanda has apparently been hard at work! You remember Amanda right?! 4.22 TKL.avi_001726793
Amanda: OK, this is everything. In 1959, five of these buildings were bachelor officers’ quarters, uh, three were warehouses converted to temporary housing and two were set up as office facilities for Khrushchev’s staff. [Ah so down to 10 options..]
Lee: And all of them have basements where the strong box could have been buried.4.22 TKL.avi_001730797
Amanda: Yup.
Billy: Who are these buildings assigned to now?
Amanda: Uh, Department of Defence, Smithsonian Institute, Patent Office and Department of the Interior. Four of the locations are secured with top-secret entry and the rest are offices and warehouses.
Lee: In any case, it’s gonna take a mountain of paperwork to get inside those buildings, let alone dig up their basements.
Billy: Maybe we should post guards on the exteriors of each building.
Lee: It’s already done. If Harry wants to get into one of those places, Billy, nothing’s gonna stop him.
4.22 TKL.avi_001756823
Door opens and Francine enter.
Francine: I found six agencies requesting files on both Harry and Lee. But only two of them have asked to be kept current on the investigation. That’s the CIA and the Committee for Internal Security.
4.22 TKL.avi_001767634

Billy: We already know about the CIA. Who requested status reports from the CIS?
4.22 TKL.avi_001772839
Francine: It came through the director’s office. Now, there’s only six people in that office that have the authority to request the forms. The director himself, the counsel, and four undersecretaries…
4.22 TKL.avi_001784050
…The CIS rep that I talked to said he didn’t understand why our office sent some additional file data over to his department. Some information on a former freelance operative called Meatball Bonfelli. 4.22 TKL.avi_001793259
Billy: Get over to CIS. Check in with their comm centre. Find out where they delivered that report. And I don’t give a damn whose toes you step on. Amanda and I will check all of our outgoing logs. [Ah! Amanda has a new job!!! Still, I’m glad to see her than not]
Francine: OK.
Lee: I just hope I didn’t deliver Meatball to the morgue.4.22 TKL.avi_001801668

Whoooo drama drama!
4.22 TKL.avi_001807273
Lee and Francine leave.. and the scene ends there.

Billy said in the last blog post ‘Amanda and I will get breakdowns of any agency that will be tracking our investigation.’ as he left Lee and Francine at the hunting lodge, but it looks like Francine did that work not Amanda… and Amanda was breaking down the possible past locations. Whatevs.

Outside an unknown building. 4.22 TKL.avi_001808475Meatball arrives home..

Hey… I may be wrong here, it’s not clear, but I think Meatball might like boxing… What do you think?!! I love how subtle smk is haaaa. 4.22 TKL.avi_001824491
He picks up the handset of the phone and punches in the number (haaa).
Meatball: Hello, Gretchen. This is Meatball. Listen, I got to speak to Harry right away. There might be trouble….How long ago did he leave?
The lock to the front door clicks and the handle starts turning.
Meatball: Look, Gretchen, I can’t talk right now. Yeah, I’ll meet Harry and Christina at the rendezvous.
Meatball puts the phone down and notices someone is trying to open his front door.

Meatball has plenty of time to see this coming, and Mr I love boxing should be able to defend himself.. but nahhh. Quisguard was trained by the CIS. He bests Meatball and injects him with something in the back . Deja vu 2000 perhaps rofl. 4.22 TKL.avi_001891891
Quisguard: Where is Thornton hiding Christina Golitsyn?
Meatball: Huh? Uh, hard to say. Heh. Uh. They could be on a tour of the White House.
Quisguard: You may think you’re pretty funny now, but in a couple of seconds you’ll be talking.4.22 TKL.avi_001894694

Hurry Lee!!! we see an aerial shot of the corvette in traffic.

Back to Meatball’s apartment.
Meatball: Yeah, it’s the old produce mart, huh? Eh, Uh.
Quisguard: Are you sure that’s where you’re to meet him?
Meatball: Oh yeah sure.4.22 TKL.avi_001913380

(Knocking on the door. It’s Lee. Quisguard moves towards the window and opens the window as Lee speaks.)
Lee: Come on, open the door, Meatball. It’s Stetson.
(As Quisguard climbs out the window, Lee forces the door open with his shoulder and enter, his gun raised.
4.22 TKL.avi_001927927
Lee runs to the open window and looks out, then comes turns back to Meatball.)
Lee: Meatball, Meatball, you OK? It’s me, Lee Stetson. Come on, get up.4.22 TKL.avi_001940607
Meatball: Lee, Lee.
Lee: Come on.
Meatball: Lee, you’ve got to warn Harry.
Lee: It’s me, Lee.
Meatball: The old produce mart. The guy knows.
Lee: OK. You gonna be all right. Just hang on.
Meatball: Warn Harry.
[awh poor Meatball all he is worried about is warning Harry!]
Lee picks up Meatball’s phone and dials.
Lee: Yeah this is Scarecrow. I need a paramedic team at the Tidal Basin Hotel, Room 339. This is a flash-fire priority. You got that? OK, get over here as soon as possible. [Hotel? I thought this was Meatball’s home..]
Meatball: I gotta wake up. Wake up.
Lee
picks up a notebook and reads: Eighty feet of rope, crowbars, blocks and tackle. Hey Meat…Meatball, listen. Look at this stuff. (Lee reads off the list he found) Eighty feet of rope, crowbars, blocks and tackle.
Meatball: Oh yeah4.22 TKL.avi_001977177
Lee: Is this the gear to dig up the strong box?
Meatball: Yeah, Yeah
Lee: Where’s the strong box?
Meatball: It’s the giraffe. The giraffe.
Lee: Giraffe? What?
Meatball: Yeah, it’s buried under the giraffe. Yeah, tell Harry. Harry knows. Warn him.
Lee: I will. Don’t you worry. You just hand on.
Meatball: Harry knows. Oh. Gotta warn Harry.

Lee leaves Harry on his couch with the help on his way…

On to Lee in the Corvette driving.
Lee: I still can’t make any sense of out Meatball saying the box was buried under the giraffe.4.22 TKL.avi_002014814
Billy: Maybe he wasn’t capable of making sense.
Lee: What about the government building we checked? Are any of them allocated to the National Zoo?
Billy: I’ll check and get back to you.
Lee: Uh. Considering the condition Meatball was in, I wouldn’t be surprised if the giraffe was standing right there in his living room.

Moving on we find Francine visiting someone named Brady, they enter a stairwell..
Brady confirms all the status reports came from teh same office, and one about Meatball came through a few hours ago.. but he can’t give her the name of who requested them. 4.22 TKL.avi_002048448
Francine points out Brady use to work for the agency.. and she has tons of security clearances. 4.22 TKL.avi_002058058
[Love how Francine gently but firmly takes his hand off of her!] 4.22 TKL.avi_002058858
Brady wants a handwritten authorisation, but Francine says they don’t have time for that. Time for Francine to pull out the big guns! 4.22 TKL.avi_002063263
Francine:…OK, all right. Brady, look I understand your position, all right? It’s just that I am desperate…4.22 TKL.avi_002078878 …I am just about desperate enough to go up and down those halls and tell everyone that little secret you told me back when we were dating. Remember the one about the shoe boxes that you keep under your bed? [wha wha????!!!!! Do tell!!] 4.22 TKL.avi_002080080
Brady: Hey, wait a minute, Francie. You promised you’d never tell anybody about that.4.22 TKL.avi_002090890
Francine: I was lying. No either you give me the name of the person who requested those agency status reports or I’m gonna …4.22 TKL.avi_002093293
Brady: All right, Francine. Here.4.22 TKL.avi_002098098

He opens a clipboard and shows her a page.
Francine: Internal security counsel to the president?
Brady: Right. Walter Singer. …Hey, uh, Francine. What are you doing Friday night?
Francine sighs, like – really?
Then, opens the doors and smiles back..
Francine: Eight o’clock?4.22 TKL.avi_002114114
Francine leaves.
Brady (to himself): Bingo.
He smiles and walks off.4.22 TKL.avi_002120120
[No hard feelings I guess!!! but hey, what’s in the shoe boxes!!! I’ll guess Brady likes to wear Heels sometimes and leave it at that Winking smile  I think Brady is a high heeled step up from Francine’s boyfriend last week drugging her and all.]

Next thing, Lee is in a warehouse area. This one looks familiar but noooo I’m not going to go hunt for where we’ve seen it before lol.

Lee approaches the outside, then Harry and Christina exit the building to say hi.. Harry’s impressed Lee found him.. 4.22 TKL.avi_002142942
Harry: Either I’ve lost my touch, or I owe you congratulations for finding us.4.22 TKL.avi_002144544
Quisguard appear and the shooting starts..
Lee: Harry, run for it. He’s on to you.
Christina moves behind Harry. Quisguard and Lee shoot at each other. A shooting match ensues. 4.22 TKL.avi_002163363
Everyone disperses… and Lee loses them all.

Better pause here!!! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

  1. Always good to see our favorite characters on screen but man, I really get why the show ended up being canceled due to the lack of Amanda and Lee scenes and interactions. Knowing how involved Kate was, I’m sure she was disappointed but in life, you can’t put a price on health. Grateful for what we had, even the lighter Lee & Amanda episodes.

  2. It’s nice to see Amanda, even if it’s only a minute, has she been promoted to Billy’s assistant? This episode just seems so boring without the Lee and Amanda dynamic!

    1. At least they explain her absence on this one so it feels like she’s still working the case even if we can’t see her. I’m still bitter over A Matter Of Choice.

  3. Loved that action shooting sequence. Lee looks SOOOOO good!

I like that we hear mention of what Amanda is doing so it still feels like she’s a part of things.

Lee was so sweet and caring with Meatball. His line about the giraffe being in his living room is hilarious.

I’m hoping that Francine flirting with this twit means that idiot she went on vacation with is out of the picture?

    1. And I love his worry “I just hope I didn’t deliver Meatball to the morgue.” Oh sweet Lee, always blaming himself and taking responsibility for others’ safety. One of the many reasons we love you so much
