That night, Amanda is home with Dotty and the boys.. in a room we don’t usually see! I get so confused by the layout of this house! Anyone good at this stuff and able to explain it? it makes my head spin!
Is this ‘that’ room we see in the opening credits all the time? I’m so confused!!
but it looks like the rarely seen room (in this episode) is directly behind the family room where Dotty and Amanda were watching Arlene Francis earlier.. *headspin*
Dotty gives Amanda the third degree because for the first time ever she lets the boys stay up past their bedtime. Amanda is amazingly patient with Dotty here IMO.. she’d drive me nuts!
Amanda’s worried about having to relocated..and Dotty is picking up the signals.. Amanda told her mother the mud wrestling bar was to where she had to go to meet a contact about book. All true! only.. Dotty doesn’t believe it!
Amanda: Oh mother you know how crazy those movie people are. [ they must have laughed over that one.. both of them being film people and all ]
That is a lovely colour on Amanda.. but that top is huge! and is very unflattering.. hope we don’t see it again! and what’s with all the boy’s sports stuff lying around? that afternoon they played baseball, tennis and basketball? my goodness they’ve been busy! Oh and it seems they’ve even been busy moving around the tv.. that one in the corner is not the one we saw Arlene Francis on!
Amanda brings up relocating somewhere far far away.. and Dotty’s immediate reaction is the same Amanda had..
Dotty: Amanda. Amanda! Have you taken leave of your senses? I mean, how could you even consider such a thing in the middle of the school year? You know, you have been acting very strange since you visited Dr Goodman last—…Is it something serious?
Amanda: Is what serious?
Dotty: The diagnosis. Dr Goodman’s.
Amanda: Oh, Mother, no, I’m not sick, I just thought maybe a little change in our lives–
Dotty: Amanda, you have never welcomed change in your entire life! [I think Amanda copes well with change.. things change with Lee every minute! infact.. I think she kind of likes change just not in the middle of the school year LOL!]
Amanda: That doesn’t mean I’m sick.
The phone rings and Dotty goes to answer it.. It’s someone for Amanda.. Dotty goes to give the phone to Amanda.. but before she’ll hand it over she wants a straight answer!
Dotty: You swear to me that you are not sick?
Amanda: I swear to you that I am not sick.
And Dotty signals Amanda can have the phone.. Oh Dotty she’s so dramatic! I truly do not know how she would cope if she had found out Amanda was a spy!! 😆
The baddies have the book.. and know who Amanda is.. where she lives.. and she’s the star of page 91 in the Suburban spy.. operation sandstorm.. whoa!!! [ok so is her whole name in this book? ] They tell Amanda her phone is bugged and to not call the police ( anyone else think that is a bluff?) and they tell her to listen carefully to their instructions..
Next thing we see Amanda heading off again for more headache medication all cheery like the conversation she just had with her mother hadn’t happened! tee hee… No wonder Dotty’s all confused!
Love how the scene ends with Dotty pensively stating ‘Hmm.. I think I will call Dr Goodman.’ – love it.. it’s echoing how when Amanda left for headache medicine that morning – Dotty said the same thing about calling Gwen! Oh and.. I really hope Amanda’s doctor doesn’t tell her mother confidential information! weird!!
Next thing we see Amanda entering the muuuud wreeeestling bar – it’s dark.. and empty.. Hmm muuud wreeestling only a day thing?!
Amanda: Hello? Anybody here? Mr Swann? I’m here.
No one answers.. Poor Amanda! she is soo brave!! Anything could have happened to her here and no one would have had any idea where she was! eek! Amanda heads into the back room looking for Auggie – and we see a hand come into shot from behind to touch her shoulder –ARGH!!!!! Amanda screams!! [awesome scream KJ!!]
We see it’s Auggie, and Amanda freaks him out by screaming… tee hee.. So Auggie cries out too! haa! –Good thing he can get himself cut price dry cleaning ( that’ll teach you to mistreat your female employees! ) I love this.. goes to show.. Auggie is pretty harmless… and makes me like him a little more!
Auggie: What? What? What?!!! [ROFLMAO!!!]Amanda: Sorry.
Auggie: I’m sorry, I’m sorry… [not lookin so cool now huh Auggie!]
Amanda: I’m sorry. Didn’t you ever see Wait Until Dark? [I have I have! Audrey Hepburn.. scary baddies.. but then.. She’s blind!! ]
Auggie: Uh-uh. Look, I just had to make sure that you were alone.
Amanda: I’m alone.
Auggie: You sure? Cause these people I talk to, they sound like they mean business. The instructions and demands are in there.
Amanda: It says that from now on… they will deal only with me.
Auggie: Yeah. I guess for some reason, they don’t trust me with two million dollars… [Busted Auggie! ] ..I peeked!
Interesting that Auggie isn’t trying to recruit Amanda anymore.. he’s too scared and all business! tee hee.. or.. maybe it was as I suspected-and motivated by annoying Lee!
Next thing we’re back at the agency.. Amanda’s got the prized spot out the front! who hoo!!
Billy is refusing to let Amanda do the handover of
the money.. Ohhh my.. check out Francine’s jim jams.. NICE!! especially with the collarr up and the beads.. [bit pirate-y?] you know, I think I owned one of those belts – and I am sure I thought I looked fabulous! Billy states it’s against agency policy to pay any kind of a ransom demand.. Aie! Billy sounds like a trainee agent here! It’s kind of ridiculous that he would just say oh well! we can’t pay them so we are stuck! Amanda wants to do something.. anything they can.. Lee pipes up suggesting the drop is the perfect chance to nab them.. Hmm oh yes? a trap? gee now why didn’t Billy think of that?! No one has ever thought of trying to pay a ransom and then nabbing the bad guys! [Love how Francine perks up when Lee suggests sending in disguised Francine.. ugh! just hurry up and get Amanda that training already! If you had.. then you wouldn’t be in this position in the first place! ] Billy thinks it’s too risky to not send Amanda.. I love Amanda’s line: Sir I’m not a brave person but I want to go through with this. (Amanda, I disagree!!! I think you are very brave!! ROFL!! I am soooo distracted while Amanda says this line by Lee’s moving pants!!! teee heee.. go watch.. you’ll see what I mean! ) I can’t concentrate.. errr Amanda is being brave and assertive and saying something about smoking these people out but I just can’t concentrate I am utterly distracted!
I do love that they revisit the line ‘smoking out’ the baddies.. Magic Bus wasn’t it where we heard that line and Lee was groaning at it?! now.. he doesn’t mind it!
Off Amanda goes with Lee and Francine doing backup. a wire, and a homing device.. yawn yawn.. So starts a rather long scene of Amanda following the baddies instructions, and Lee trying to keep up with her..
Hmmm…How to make this kinda thing interesting? hmmm stick in a wacky homeless lady in the scene to watch you put 2 million dollars into a bag! ….. actually, it was a cute moment..
Amanda: Yep, alot of money! All mine!
Not cute enough though, it doesn’t work – nope! this whole sequence is a big yawn! . I wish Lee had lost Amanda after the first phone call.. infact this is soooo interesting I am completely distracted by just how long Lee’s hair is in the back! oh man.. I really don’t like it flapping around there.. a bit Achy Breaky heart for my taste.. I love his european hairdo! hehehee.. which has been outgrown in a week. but which will miraculously return next week- spy hair can do that you know..
Hey! That lady who is suddenly the maitre d’ of the restaurant?? that’s the same lady who Amanda pushed past to get on the bus earlier! [Also love the antique looking telephone the lady talks on – it has no cord! 😉 ]
Sooo they loose Amanda when a bikie shows up and tells her to get on- motorbike two weeks in a row eh Amanda! whoo hoo! [no wonder you’re wearing pants again! ]
Love how bikie dude says : Amanda King? you’re suppose to come with me. get on.
Amanda responds: You’re kidding.
Bikie dude wordlessly responds with just a look!!
Arggh!!! Hey he has an eye patch! Is there a deliberate pirate theme this week? I was thinking Francine’s stripy pants and belt had a pirate them to them too but thought I was imaging it.. now I’m not so sure! ARGGGHHHH!
Lee ends up crashing over some tables- his special spy suit miraculously free from foody residue and walkie talkie broken.. cue split second of ‘uh oh! Amanda’s in trouble!’ – the one thing I want to see and they cut from it.. unbelievable! I wanted to see a close up on Lee’s terrified features as she raced away with the bikie dude.. but alas.. I’ll just have to imagine it..
Next thing we see Amanda being dropped off at a warehouse and left by the bikie dude.. LOL.. that is so obviously not Amanda in the wideshot! Guess they were in a hurry and had a second unit team shooting Amanda (who isn’t Amanda!) walking into the warehouse?! tee heee..
Lee is on the telephone.. Ohhh boy.. There goes Lee talking to his boss with the deepest respect again: Billy! If I had any clues I wouldn’t be on the phone with you would I! Now what have you got on the licence plate!! –
WHahahaahaahah!!! ouch!!! Lee hangs up on Billy and doesn’t even say goodbye!
Lee tracks down the bikie which transported Amanda to her final destination.. and Lee calls him ‘Pal’!!!!! He means business bikie dude- come on and spill or Lee will make yer walk the plank!
[Maybe it’s a bit twisted.. but I love how Lee looks happy to be hurting bikie dude! ] Lee gets the info he wants.. and… I’ll be back with more as soon as I can! hang on to yer belts err I mean hats!
Thanks as always for reading! I hope you are enjoying this episode.. I’d love to hear any feedback, comments- bits you like, bits you don’t agree with.. anything! 🙂
Iwsod, your comment about, “I am soooo distracted while Amanda says this line by Lee’s moving pants!!!” OMG I never notice the moving pants before!!! How could I have missed that, it’s hysterical!!! Now I can’t seem to concentrate on the plot, who cares about the book. Now all I can watch is the pants ROFL! Got to get my mind out of that gutter…..nawwww 🙂
I was laughing so hard, my hubbie wanted to know what was so funny so I showed him the moving pants and he just lost it! He has an eveeeeen filthier mind than I do! (He did comment that in the old days you couldn’t see the details. Boy, didn’t know what we were missing!)
Jule!!!! that is too funny!!!! 🙂 Good to hear your hubby shares your sense of humour! 🙂
who knew poor quality was a form of censorship? 😉
It happens lots.. I just don’t mention it – but this time it was seen in the close up so it was extreeeemly distracting! 🙂
Glad you are enjoying the show! haa!
I can’t believe I never saw that before. Too funny!!! I’ll never be able to look at that scene the same way again. 🙂
I guess I’ll have to keep an eye on Lee’s pant from now on!

Spit take alert!!!! whahahaha!!
Amanda if your headache is that bad might I suggest ibuprofen rather than aspirin 😉 Love Dotty’s face when she’s considering ringing Dr Goodman LOL Do doctors generally give out patients details to their nearest and dearest without it being an emergency?! Or was Dotty just going talk him to death until he surrendered?
Aside from the lame suggestion that Augie is some kind of sexual predator I do find him quite sweet. Not really someone I would imagine to get involved in some of the more high profile stuff, i always saw him as a small time wheeler dealer.
I completely missed the moving trousers. Damn now I have to go back and rewatch it LOL I love how Amanda keeps swivelling between Lee and Francine.
Redgold I also snigger like a schoolgirl when KJ nearly whacks herself in the face with the telephone cord.
I also laugh when Lee says they’ve lost the wire and the homing device. He sounds so surprised. Really?! It’s the first thing I’d be thinking of!
I know I’m getting to this one late, but:
(a) I’m disappointed Lee didn’t look at the microwave and see Amanda was right about the hidden panel. 😦
(b) I ROTFLMAOd when Amanda was talking to Dotty about living someplace else and the first place she mentioned was California “It’s nice there all year, it never gets cold.” Mmmmhmmmmm… that’s why your winters in smkland (ahem, cough, D.C.) are so mild… 😀
(c) Lee’s magical moving pants make an appearance before your noted one above–in the scene in the IFF corridor before Lee and Amanda head to Auggie’s mud wrestling bar…
(d) Is the “antique looking telephone the lady talks on” a sibling to the “baddie phone”?
(e) Doesn’t Lee say that Amanda gets onto the “55 cross-town” bus? She hops off the number 22 (State something-or-other)… LOL!
I defiantly agrre with you iwsod that Amanda is very brave!!!
I hope that this doesn’t sound unkind, but the scene where Amanda picks up the receiver in the phone booth after taking off the “wire” and the metal cord almost whaps her in the face makes me chuckle each time. Those dang metal cords always did that, but I’d completely forgotten about them until I discovered SMK about a year and half ago. Ah, the memories…Pay phones are almost extinct in the US now, I think.
Maybe it’s just me, but I think Billy planned on sending Amanda in all along. I think he just wanted Amanda to be the one to suggest it, so she didn’t feel pressured. I’ve said it before, Billy thought more of Amanda’s skills than Lee or Francine.

Hi debilyn, I don’t know why but no I didn’t get that vibe.. I probably underestimate Billy! and if that’s how you interpret it then you go with that 🙂 we can all see things differently – that’s a good thing. I thought Billy looked really depressed in that scene.. all slouchy.. it was weird!
Lovely to hear from you!!
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4781328/1/Billys-Case-Files written from Billy’s point of view on all 88 cases. Maybe I shouldn’t have posted this because it may tempt you away from your RL obligations. (it’s not exactly short, but can be read in chunks)
There’s a cute video on youtube about Amanda following the baddie’s instructions and the filming locations involved. It’s very funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-UN89OPI1c. It makes the sequence a lot more fun to watch. No yawning, IWSOD!
Thihi, definitely no yawning! Magic car and magic hair in the spy business.
ROFL everytime when Amanda and Lee are sitting shoulder to shoulder together in the car. I can here the cameraman shouting “CLOSER!”
Your right! they do sit very very close to each other don’t they! and they stand very close to each other too.. It’s almost ridiculous! 😉 not that I mind.. 🙂 but I bet you are right Claudia!
